Role description
CAE Engineer - CFD
Seeking a highly skilled CFD Simulation Engineer with a strong background in Conjugate Heat Transfer (CHT) analysis.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in STAR-CCM+, ANSYS Fluent, and OpenFOAM, coupled with solid experience in pre-processing (ANSA) and automation scripting to accelerate simulation workflows.
You will be responsible for developing, executing, and optimizing CFD models to support thermal management, design validation, and performance improvement of complex engineering systems.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and execute CHT and thermal-fluid CFD simulations for full-system models.
• Perform geometry cleanup, meshing, and surface preparation using ANSA and STAR-CCM+
• Build, calibrate, and validate CFD models using experimental or reference data.
• Run simulations in STAR-CCM+, Fluent, and OpenFOAM, ensuring model accuracy and computational efficiency.
• Conduct parametric, design optimization, and sensitivity studies.
• Develop automation and scripting tools (e.g., Python, Java, or macro scripting) to streamline model setup and post-processing workflows.
• Collaborate with design, test, and system integration teams to interpret results and provide actionable insights.
• Document methodologies, simulation plans, and validation results clearly and concisely.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in CFD simulations, particularly CHT and thermal-fluid coupling.
• Proficiency in STAR-CCM+, working knowledge of ANSYS Fluent and OpenFOAM preferred.
• Strong experience with ANSA for geometry preparation and mesh generation, working knowledge of CATIA preferred.
• Familiarity with computational method for modeling heat transfer – radiation, conduction and convection. Experience in CFD modeling building focused on heat transfer mechanisms preferably automotive application.
• Experience with Python, Bash, or Java macros for CFD process automation.
• Understanding HPC environments, parallel computing, and GPU acceleration (HPC clusters, NVIDIA A100/H100) is a plus.
Preferred Skills
• Experience with parametric studies, DOE, and optimization frameworks .
• Familiarity with CAD tools (CATIA, SolidWorks) for model import/export.
• Knowledge of data visualization tools (ParaView, Ensight or Tecplot, ).
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to communicate technical insights effectively.
