Role description

Job Title: Senior Business Analyst

Location: Denver, CO & Mill Valley, CA (Onsite)

Duration: 12+ months

Job Description: We need targeted hiring from companies that offer tech/engineering services to REITs, private credit, IB, and hedge funds.

Needs to be senior to engage and drive the C-Suite at RWT

Key Responsibilities & Skills

Core Financial Domain Expertise (Must-Have)

   • Deep experience in investment banking, capital markets, and financial instruments—particularly in capital allocation, derivatives, and Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS).

   • Proven track record in private credit analysis, including complex credit risk evaluation and non-traditional lending.

   • Strong grasp of securitization, including risk assessment, hedge positioning, and asset structuring.

   • Solid understanding of corporate finance: ROE, leverage, cost of capital, and capital turnover.

Financial Reporting & Analysis (Preferred)

   • Hands-on experience preparing and analyzing quarterly/annual financial reports, including SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q).

   • Strong command of financial statements: income statement, balance sheet, and cash flows.

   • Skilled in trend/variance analysis, forecasting, and transforming financial data into actionable business insights.

Mortgage & Real Estate Finance (Preferred)

   • Familiarity with residential mortgage products, loan origination, and securitization workflows.

   • Exposure to REITs, including reporting standards, regulatory compliance, and performance analysis.

   • Experience working with mortgage lenders or specialty finance institutions.

Communication & Cross-Functional Collaboration

   • Excellent verbal and written communication; able to articulate complex financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.

   • Proven ability to work across Finance, FP&A, Accounting, and Product teams (including offshore collaboration).

   • High attention to detail and analytical rigor.

Tools & Technical Proficiency

   • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas, macros).

   • Proficiency in data visualization tools: Power BI, Tableau.

   • Experience with ERP systems (Workday preferred; Oracle Financials, SAP also valued).

   • Working knowledge of SQL or other data query tools.

   • Familiarity with financial consolidation and planning tools: FiS Integrity, Workiva, Planful.
