Role description
We are seeking a highly skilled Cassandra Database Engineer with deep expertise in NoSQL database administration, with a primary focus on Cassandra. This role requires hands-on operational experience in database management and strong knowledge of public cloud technologies (AWS and/or GCP). The engineer will play a critical role in database operations, performance tuning, incident management, and cloud deployments. Key Responsibilities β€’ Perform database performance analysis and operational reviews for production platforms. β€’ Manage day-to-day database operations including incident response, alert resolution, and coordination with third-party support. β€’ Deploy and maintain database monitoring solutions. β€’ Develop, test, and implement restore and recovery procedures. β€’ Handle database platform deployment, installation, patching, change management, and upgrades. β€’ Apply and maintain database hardening procedures across cloud, hosted, and on-premises platforms. β€’ Provide expert support to technical and project delivery teams. β€’ Participate in database platform reviews, performance benchmarking, tuning, and security evaluations. β€’ Deliver proactive recommendations for improvements and design changes to ensure high availability and security. Minimum Qualifications β€’ High school diploma and 8+ years of Cassandra administration experience (administration, not architecture/design). β€’ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science preferred, with 8–10 years of experience. β€’ 8–10 years of NoSQL/Cassandra administration in production environments. β€’ Strong background in public cloud database deployment, management, and migration. β€’ Expertise in database operations, standards, and deployment methodologies. β€’ Proven ability to manage change in high-availability, SLA-driven production platforms. β€’ Skilled in high availability database architectures. β€’ Strong technical leadership, proactive mindset, and collaborative team approach. β€’ Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications β€’ Advanced expertise in Cassandra database administration. β€’ Experience with DataStax Enterprise Cassandra. β€’ Strong troubleshooting skills in production environments. β€’ Background in Linux system administration. β€’ Familiarity with GitLab, Terraform, Datadog, Kubernetes, and Docker. β€’ Experience with database performance evaluations and benchmarking.
