Role description
We are looking for a Data Scientist to support the client’s Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) Analytics initiative. This role will contribute to the development of CISS Analytics, a legislatively mandated analytics platform designed to provide data-driven insights that inform policy, legal reform, and operational decision-making across Connecticut’s criminal justice agencies.
The selected candidate will work cross-functionally with SQL DBAs, business stakeholders, source data owners, and the CJIS Analytics Subcommittee to transform complex criminal justice data into scalable machine learning solutions and actionable intelligence. The objective is to deliver measurable impact through predictive modeling, statistical analysis, and advanced analytics while helping establish a scalable data science framework for long-term sustainability.
Scope of Work
• Translate business and legislative challenges into data science solutions
• Collect, clean, and preprocess structured and unstructured datasets
• Develop, validate, and deploy machine learning models (classification, regression, clustering, neural networks)
• Perform statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, and A/B experiment design
• Build predictive and prescriptive analytics models
• Collaborate with data engineers for model integration and deployment
• Monitor model performance and retrain models as required
• Communicate insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Contribute to documentation and data science governance best practices
Strict Requirement
US Citizen or Greencard holder requirement per the client and W2 only
Requirements
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field
• Minimum 2+ years of experience in Data Science, Analytics, or Machine Learning
• Strong Python expertise (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn)
• Experience with SQL and relational databases
• Strong statistical and probability knowledge
• Experience building and validating ML models
• Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar)
• Experience handling large datasets
• Experience with deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow or PyTorch)
• Experience with AWS or Azure cloud platforms
• Knowledge of MLOps tools (MLflow, Airflow, Docker)
• Experience deploying models within SDLC environments
• Strong communication and stakeholder presentation skills
• Ability to translate technical findings into policy-relevant insights
• Ability to pass background investigation
If interested, please apply with resume.
