Climate Data Specialist (AI Training) About The Role What if your expertise in climate modeling, ecology, or sustainability could directly shape how AI understands one of the most critical fields of our time? We're looking for environmental science experts to help build and train cutting-edge AI models — developing complex, real-world problems that push the boundaries of what AI can reason through. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role designed for Masters and PhD-level scientists who want to put their deep domain knowledge to work on something genuinely impactful. • Organization: Alignerr • Type: Hourly Contract • Location: Remote • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week What You'll Do • Design, solve, and review advanced environmental science problems with real-world relevance and scientific rigor • Apply your expertise in climate modeling, ecology, sustainability, or related disciplines to create complex, nuanced problem sets • Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and fellow domain experts to strengthen AI model reasoning • Evaluate the quality, clarity, and scientific depth of AI-generated outputs in your area of expertise • Ensure accuracy and intellectual integrity across all deliverables Who You Are • Master's or PhD in Environmental Science, Climate Science, Ecology, or a closely related field • Strong expertise in at least one of: climate modeling, ecology, sustainability, or environmental data analysis • Proficient in Python or R for research, data analysis, or modeling • Exceptional written communicator — you can explain complex science clearly and precisely • Naturally detail-oriented with a rigorous, methodical approach to scientific problems • Fluent in English and based in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, or New Zealand Nice to Have • Prior experience with data annotation, data quality review, or AI evaluation workflows • Background in quantitative environmental modeling or large-scale ecological datasets • Experience writing or reviewing scientific literature or technical documentation • Familiarity with AI tools or machine learning concepts as an end user Why Join Us • Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading research labs • Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you • Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, task-based work • Apply your scientific expertise to a domain where it creates lasting, tangible impact • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
