This is a fully remote, flexible contract role designed for Masters and PhD-level scientists who want to put their deep domain knowledge to work on something genuinely impactful. • Organization: Alignerr • Type: Hourly Contract • Location: Remote • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week What You'll Do • Design, solve, and review advanced environmental science problems with real-world relevance and scientific rigor • Apply your expertise in climate modeling, ecology, sustainability, or related disciplines to create complex, nuanced problem sets • Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and fellow domain experts to strengthen AI model reasoning • Evaluate the quality, clarity, and scientific depth of AI-generated outputs in your area of expertise • Ensure accuracy and intellectual integrity across all deliverables Who You Are • Master's or PhD in Environmental Science, Climate Science, Ecology, or a closely related field • Strong expertise in at least one of: climate modeling, ecology, sustainability, or environmental data analysis • Proficient in Python or R for research, data analysis, or modeling • Exceptional written communicator — you can explain complex science clearly and precisely • Naturally detail-oriented with a rigorous, methodical approach to scientific problems • Fluent in English and based in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, or New Zealand Nice to Have • Prior experience with data annotation, data quality review, or AI evaluation workflows • Background in quantitative environmental modeling or large-scale ecological datasets • Experience writing or reviewing scientific literature or technical documentation • Familiarity with AI tools or machine learning concepts as an end user Why Join Us • Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading research labs • Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you • Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, task-based work • Apply your scientific expertise to a domain where it creates lasting, tangible impact • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
