Role description
Cloud Database Engineer Location: Hybrid in Dallas, TX Employment Type: 12+ Month W2 Contract This role is for a Cloud Database Engineer responsible for supporting and improving cloud-based database platforms used by a large wealth management organization. The position focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and highly available database environments across AWS. Daily responsibilities include managing Oracle RDS, Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB, monitoring database performance, troubleshooting issues, supporting disaster recovery strategies, and working closely with application and data engineering teams to ensure reliable database operations. The ideal candidate will have 6–8+ years of Oracle database administration experience (Oracle 12c and 19c), along with 3–5 years of experience working on enterprise cloud database initiatives. Strong hands-on expertise with PostgreSQL, Oracle RDS, AWS database services, and data replication technologies such as Oracle GoldenGate and AWS DMS is required. Experience with automation tools such as Terraform or Python, cloud architecture, performance tuning, high-availability solutions, and production support environments is also important. Familiarity with Snowflake is considered a plus but is not mandatory.
