Position Overview: • Looking for an experienced Cloud & Database Engineer to support the migration of an existing SQL Server back end for a Microsoft Access application into Azure SQL and implement the supporting cloud infrastructure. • Will also play a key role in establishing secure authentication, modern reporting with Power BI, and optimizing data performance for a new web front end. • This position partners closely with a Full-Stack Developer to deliver a complete modernization of a legacy business system. Responsibilities: • Assess and document the current SQL Server database structure, stored procedures, and data usage. • Plan and execute migration to Azure SQL Database, ensuring schema integrity and performance tuning. • Set up Azure infrastructure (App Service, Key Vault, Storage, networking, security). • Implement and manage CI / CD pipelines and automated deployments. • Replace or integrate legacy Access reports with Power BI dashboards and embedded analytics. • Manage data security, backups, and compliance (PII, HIPAA, GDPR as needed). • Provide support during testing, rollout, and go-live phases. Qualifications: • 5+ years of experience in SQL Server / Azure SQL Database administration and development. • Strong T-SQL skills (procedures, views, indexing, query optimization). • Hands-on experience with Azure services: App Service, Data Factory, Azure Functions, Key Vault, monitoring. • Experience building Power BI data models and reports. • Familiarity with Azure AD / Entra ID for role-based access control. • Knowledge of CI / CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions). • Excellent documentation and cross-team collaboration skills. Preferred Skills: • Previous experience migrating legacy systems (Access, on-prem SQL) into Azure. • Comfortable supporting a small modernization team (2-3 people). • Exposure to Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps).
