Position Summary
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Cloud Security Engineer to develop, secure, and maintain our cloud infrastructure, ensuring the resilience and integrity of our systems to support mission-critical Credit Union operations. In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement modern security practices across public, private, and hybrid cloud environments. You will play a vital role in identifying and mitigating risk, maintaining compliance with financial and regulatory standards, and ensuring secure enablement of business initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, implement, and manage a robust cloud security stack in collaboration with cloud network engineers.
• Oversee cloud SIEM infrastructure and partner with MSSPs to ensure proactive threat detection and response.
• Administer and secure APIs and support SaaS posture management tools.
• Develop and maintain security-focused automation scripts (Python, Ruby, etc.) to support cloud data flow.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and provide strategic guidance on remediating security risks in cloud infrastructure.
• Enforce cloud security controls to protect data and ensure regulatory compliance, including NCUA standards.
• Serve as a cloud security subject matter expert, advising on architecture, design, implementation, and incident response.
• Lead response efforts to security events and support forensic investigations.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders on emerging cloud threats, mitigation strategies, and policy enforcement.
• Monitor system alerts, configuration changes, and access anomalies to proactively manage risks.
• Stay informed of evolving threats, cloud security tools, and industry best practices to continuously elevate our security posture.
Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field Required
• Industry certifications preferred: CCSP, AWS Certified Security Specialty, Azure Security Engineer Associate, or similar.
Experience
• Minimum 5 years of experience in cloud security or cybersecurity roles with exposure to AWS and Azure Required
• Hands-on experience with CASB, SIEM, EDR, PKI, IDAM, and cloud compliance frameworks Required
• Prior experience in financial services or regulated environments is a strong plus.
Skills & Competencies
• Deep knowledge of cloud security architecture, governance, and threat modeling.
• Expertise in tools such as IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners, endpoint protection platforms, and firewalls.
• Strong scripting and automation capabilities in support of security operations and data protection.
• Ability to interpret and apply compliance requirements (e.g., NCUA, PCI-DSS, SOC 2).
• Exceptional problem-solving, critical thinking, and incident resolution skills.
• Effective communicator across both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of balancing long-term initiatives with tactical incident response.
