Azure Cloud Engineer
Location: Washington, DC Hybrid
Clearance Level Must Be Able to Obtain: Public Trust
Responsibilities
• Infrastructure Management: Design, deploy, and administer the Microsoft Azure cloud environment, including IaaS and PaaS solutions (virtual machines, storage, databases, container services like Kubernetes).
• Automation & DevOps: Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, and Ansible to ensure automated and consistent platform deployments. Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or similar tools.
• Security & Compliance: Implement robust security controls and governance frameworks, including access controls (RBAC), identity management (Azure AD, conditional access), and vulnerability assessments. Ensure all solutions meet federal security standards and DoD requirements (e.g., FedRAMP, NIST controls, DISA STIGs).
• Networking & Connectivity: Design and configure virtual networks, subnets, network security groups (NSGs), Azure Firewall, VPN gateways, and ExpressRoute for secure hybrid connectivity.
• Monitoring & Optimization: Monitor cloud performance, resource utilization, and costs using tools like Azure Monitor and Log Analytics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing optimizations.
• Migration & Modernization: Support the migration of existing infrastructure and legacy applications to cloud-based solutions, and help transform or modernize applications for cloud adoption.
• Troubleshooting & Support: Provide technical support, perform root cause analysis for incidents, and participate in on-call rotations to address and resolve critical technical escalations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Experience: Proven experience in IT, with significant hands-on experience in Microsoft Azure cloud engineering, including design, deployment, configuration, and optimization.
• Technical Proficiency:
• Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, Bash, Azure CLI).
• Proficiency with IaC tools such as Terraform or Bicep.
• Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes (AKS).
• Knowledge of both Windows and Linux server administration.
