Position: Cloud Engineer (Senior)
Clearance: Secret
Location: Crystal City, VA (Hybrid Remote)
Type: Exempt, Full Time, Regular
Description:
The Cloud Engineer (Senior) will have extensive experience in executing the full complement of cloud engineering activities from requirements definition to architecture, design, implementation, and test, through deployment, operations and support. The Cloud Engineer (Senior) must understand requirements definition and traceability (end-to-end process), be able to develop technical system development life cycle documentation, and have the knowledge and skills to support all engineering aspects of the design, development, and implementation of large-scale projects in the cloud to include managed services and migration efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance and implementation of current Army and DoD policies involving digital transformation and modernization to support major program decisions and recommend strategies and techniques for ensuring programmatic success
Contribute to all cloud-related aspects of strategic planning, from the portfolio level to the project level, acquisition planning, system development, and stakeholder management
Lead cloud-related engineering aspects of contract procurement planning, solicitation, award, and performance monitoring
Evaluate applications and determine their viability to operate in the program cloud environment
Apply cloud-based data and database technologies, data standards, and best practices while adhering to applicable DoD laws, policies, directives, mandates, and guidance
Identify data and system migration strategies to transition legacy systems and technologies to advanced, cloud-based hosting solutions such as cArmy or the GovCloud
Coordinate/collaborate with Cloud Service Provider (CSP) to ensure the solution remains available, compliant, and optimized for mission operations
Perform cloud management activities such as patching existing technologies and introducing new technologies as needed to remain technically relevant and compliant
Collaborate with interface partners to troubleshoot and resolve issues
Monitor and optimize system performance to ensure system is available and responsive to users
Ensure compliance with DoD and Army architectures and acquisition policies addressed in DoD 5000 and 8000 series
Manage, develop, assess, and process engineering change proposals and requests, including performing technical analyses/feasibility studies and identifying system impacts associated with new requirements, and requirements changes
Contribute to release planning
Ensure consistency across engineering and acquisition documentation
Define test procedures/scripts and establish associated data sets in support of integration, end-to-end, and user acceptance testing
Perform Enterprise Architecture / Business Process Reengineering activities to assist an organization in analyzing requirements and defining/designing workflows and business processes that optimize mission operations within an information technology solution
Align engineering activities with program acquisition strategies to include ensuring the schedule is achievable and adequate technical performance measures / controls are in place
Define/review business process models, architecture, designs, technical specifications, and implementation strategies (e.g., engineering, security, testing, training, deployment)
Develop/provide key content for acquisition documentation to achieve milestone decisions
Communicate project information through presentations, technical reports, and/or white papers
Minimum Qualifications:
Masterβs degree in an engineering or relevant technology field or Bachelorβs Degree plus an additional two (2) years of experience in an engineering or relevant technology field
8+ years of experience in architecting, designing, developing, and implementing cloud solutions on AWS and Azure platforms
Experience developing IT software solutions in a cloud environment
Experience implementing IT software solutions using Agile methodology
Cloud Professional Certification (e.g. AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Certified Cloud Architect)
Agile Certifications, (e.g., Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe 6.0), Certified Scrum Professional) preferred
Working knowledge and application of DoD 5000 and 8000 series
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to understand task requirements, explain solutions clearly, and respond quickly to time-sensitive leadership requests
Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, showing initiative and sound judgment in dynamic environments
Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, Word), SharePoint, and Teams
Proficiency in project management and Agile task management tools, such as, but not limited to the Atlassian Suite of products, Microsoft Azure DevOps, and ServiceNow
