Cloud Modernization Developer

We are looking for a Software Analyst / Developer to support the client’s major modernization effort to replace a legacy application with a secure, scalable, cloud-based solution. This position combines requirements analysis, software development, and data migration validation responsibilities within an Agile Scrum framework. The selected consultant will serve as a key member of a cross-functional, self-managed Scrum team, collaborating with product owners, developers, testers, and data specialists to deliver high-quality, incremental releases for the modernization of mission-critical applications. • • • Must be a US citizen, W2 only • • • • Key ResponsibilitiesRequirements Analysis & Documentation • Collaborate with stakeholders and technical teams to elicit, analyze, and document business and system requirements. • Translate business needs into user stories and acceptance criteria in Azure DevOps. • Document current/future state workflows, integration points, and data dependencies. • Create and validate data and interface mapping documents between legacy and modern systems. • Define and maintain functional, non-functional, and reporting requirements ensuring end-to-end traceability. Software Development & Technical Implementation • Design, develop, and refactor components using ASP.NET MVC, Entity Framework, and Azure App Service. • Contribute to CI/CD pipeline setup using Azure DevOps and Azure Git Repositories. • Work with Azure SQL databases to design schema, stored procedures, and performance tuning. • Collaborate with data engineers on SSIS-based ETL processes and data migration activities. • Participate in code reviews to ensure best practices for performance, maintainability, and security. Data Migration Validation & Testing • Develop and maintain automated, reusable data validation scripts to verify migrated data after each migration cycle. • Validate record counts, referential integrity, transformations, and business rule consistency. • Analyze and resolve data discrepancies with developers and data teams. • Document data validation procedures, testing outcomes, and transformation logic. • Support system, integration, and UAT testing using Azure DevOps test management. Agile/Scrum Collaboration • Participate actively in all Scrum ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives). • Collaborate with Product Owners to refine backlog items and define sprint goals. • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and shared accountability. Required Qualifications • 5+ years of experience with ASP.NET MVC and Entity Framework. • Proven experience with Azure SQL, Azure App Service, and Azure DevOps (CI/CD pipelines, Git Repos). • Strong background in SQL scripting and automated data validation/testing. • Solid understanding of data modeling and mapping across legacy-to-modern systems. • Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps for work item, test case, and defect management. • Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum principles. • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Visio for data and process documentation. Preferred Qualifications • Experience in legacy system modernization or public-sector IT transformation. • Understanding of security, access control, and user role management in enterprise apps. • Familiarity with API integration and reporting validation.
