Job OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Cognos Administrator to join our data management team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing Cognos analytics platforms, ensuring seamless integration with various data sources, and supporting business intelligence initiatives. This role requires a strong understanding of data warehousing, ETL processes, and cloud-based data solutions, along with proficiency in scripting and analysis tools. The Cognos Admin will play a critical part in enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization. Duties Manage and configure Cognos Analytics environments to ensure high availability and performance. Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to integrate Cognos with diverse data sources such as AWS, Azure Data Lake, Hadoop, Oracle, and SQL Server. Develop and maintain ETL workflows using tools like Talend, Informatica, and custom scripting (Python, Shell Scripting, Bash). Design and implement database schemas and optimize SQL queries for reporting efficiency. Support report development, dashboard creation, and model training within Cognos. Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and apply patches or upgrades as needed. Ensure security protocols are followed for user access management and data privacy compliance. Work within Agile development frameworks to deliver continuous improvements. Document system configurations, procedures, and best practices for future reference. Experience Proven experience as a Cognos Administrator or similar BI platform administrator. Strong background in database design and management with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or similar relational databases. Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure Data Lake. Familiarity with big data technologies including Hadoop, Apache Hive, Spark, and Looker. Proficiency in ETL tools like Talend or Informatica along with scripting languages such as Python, VBA, Bash (Unix shell), or Shell Scripting. Knowledge of RESTful APIs for system integration purposes. Experience working with data warehouses and analytics solutions in an Agile environment. Skills in analysis, database optimization, model training, and data visualization are highly desirable.
