Role description
Shape the strategic analytics that guide how a breakthrough oncology portfolio reaches the patients who need it.
Our client is a global biopharmaceutical company with a fast-growing oncology commercial organization and an established commercial product line. As its Global Data Analytics function scales to support oncology global product strategy, commercialization, and executive reporting, the team is engaging an Analytics Consultant to serve as a front-facing advisor and project lead.
This is a consulting engagement, not a heads-down individual-contributor analyst seat. You will be the point person for incoming analytics requests, translating business questions into structured workstreams, coordinating external analytics and data engineering vendors, and keeping projects moving for a demanding set of internal stakeholders. Success in this role is defined by business fluency, stakeholder-facing maturity, and disciplined project management far more than by hands-on tool execution.
• This will be a 6-month consulting engagement to start, with strong potential for extension beyond.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list represents the major duties of the engagement and is not all-inclusive. The consultant may be asked to perform related duties beyond those described here.
Analytics Advisory & Project Leadership
• Serve as the front-facing advisor and project lead for incoming analytics requests, fielding stakeholder questions, triaging priorities, and keeping projects moving rather than performing all analysis hands-on.
• Act as a primary analytics point of contact and ensure continuity and responsiveness during periods when the function lead is out of office.
• Translate business and market questions into clearly scoped analytics workstreams and defined deliverables.
• Oversee a high volume of ad hoc, reactive requests without dropping items, maintaining strong project and workload tracking across concurrent priorities.
Vendor & Delivery Management
• Delegate and coordinate hands-on analytics, data engineering, and dashboard build-out across external consulting and data engineering vendors.
• Manage vendor scope, timelines, and output quality rather than personally building every deliverable.
• Ensure vendor deliverables meet stakeholder needs and internal business standards before they are presented.
Global Product Strategy Support
• Support the Global Product Strategy team on strategic, market-understanding questions, including indication and competitive-landscape research, patient journey mapping from secondary data, and market share and analog analysis.
• Provide claims-data-informed inputs to support forecasting models (input support and interpretation, not building the forecasts).
• Interpret external data trends and synthesize market insights into clear, decision-ready summaries for internal audiences.
Commercialization & Launch Support
• Support the commercialization team as it prepares to launch in new markets, including market sizing, physician-universe questions, and indication-overlap analysis.
Executive Reporting & Established-Product Support
• Support the established commercial product line with marketing dashboards, marketing-mix-style projects, and executive-level reporting.
• Prepare and refine reporting for senior and C-suite stakeholders, ensuring a clear, polished, executive-ready standard.
Qualifications
The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform this engagement successfully.
Required
• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and a minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotech commercial or marketing analytics, insights, or a related advisory function.
• Direct pharmaceutical or biotech commercial/marketing analytics experience.
• U.S. pharmaceutical and commercial experience, given that the majority of the data and stakeholder base is U.S.-based.
• Strong business acumen, stakeholder management, and advisor presence, with the maturity to be the face of the analytics function to internal directors, VPs, and commercialization partners.
• Demonstrated project and workload management, with the ability to triage and track many concurrent ad hoc requests.
• Excellent professional written and verbal communication, including responsive, well-written correspondence and clear expectation-setting.
Preferred
• Oncology therapeutic-area experience, which is a strong advantage given the medically heavy nature of incoming questions (indications, patient journey, clinical-trial nuance).
• Consulting background, which supports market and business fluency and client-facing polish.
• Prior experience directing external analytics or dashboard vendors
• Comfort operating within an advisory and oversight model rather than a purely hands-on build role.
Nice to Have
• Working familiarity with Databricks and Power BI
• Forecasting exposure, including analog analysis, peak-share timing, and PFS / therapy-line concepts
Engagement & Location
• Structure: 6-month consulting engagement (contract), with strong potential for extension
• Location: Onsite in Northern New Jersey approximately one day per week, with the remainder remote.
Compensation: Hourly Rate: $100 – $110 per hour.
• The rate offered will be commensurate with experience, skills, qualifications, and other relevant factors.
