Location: Houston, TX (4 days onsite, 1 day remote)

Description
The Commercial Logistics Business Improvement Analyst supports the Commercial organization by improving transportation management systems (TMS), SAP/ERP integrations, logistics processes, data integrity, and analytics. This role focuses on driving process improvements, optimizing system performance, and delivering data-driven solutions to enhance logistics operations. The ideal candidate is a strong analytical thinker with experience in cross-functional collaboration, process optimization, and translating business needs into scalable, efficient solutions.
Responsibilities
β’ Monitor and support SAP integrations with TMS applications, proactively troubleshoot issues, perform root-cause analysis, and help drive timely resolution of complex system or process issues.
β’ Serve as an experienced subject matter resource for TMS platforms, providing guidance, knowledge sharing, and user support across the organization.
β’ Use analytics tools, reporting, and operational data to improve visibility, identify trends, and enable data-driven decision-making.
β’ Partners with cross-functional teams to support system upgrades, data integrations, and process optimization initiatives across logistics workflows.
β’ Document process changes, system updates, and improvement initiatives, and prepare reports or presentations on progress, outcomes, and business impact.
β’ Support strategic business improvement efforts, including freight management system enhancements and initiatives to improve logistics transparency.
β’ Maintain high levels of data integrity by monitoring key system data and supporting critical transactions within TMS platforms.
β’ Analyze end-to-end process and data flow issues and recommend solutions that improve accuracy, efficiency, and reporting consistency across teams.
β’ Work independently on moderately complex assignments, escalating risks appropriately, and helping coordinate solutions with business and technical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
β’ Legally authorized to work in the United States. Must be onsite in Houston office 5 days per week.
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
β’ 4+ years of experience working with transportation management systems, SAP, ERP platforms, and process improvement practices, with demonstrated progression in responsibility.
β’ Working knowledge of rail and truck logistics operations, including carrier management, shipment tracking, and freight optimization.
β’ Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement capabilities, with the ability to challenge the status quo and drive practical improvements.
β’ Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
β’ Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions and present insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
β’ Experience documenting business requirements, process flows, and system interactions to support operational and technical improvements.
β’ Ability to work effectively in a contractor role, quickly build relationships, and deliver results in a dynamic business environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
β’ Experience with SAP S/4HANA and SAP R/3, including vendor billing documents, nominations, shipment cost documents, and ticket actualization.
β’ Experience integrating TMS data into ERP systems and other enterprise platforms.
β’ Ability to map business processes and perform end-to-end data mapping and root cause analysis to improve data accuracy and streamline reporting across departments.
β’ Experience supporting commercial logistics operations, with strong trucking experience (required) and rail logistics experience (preferred/secondary).
β’ Familiarity with Power BI dashboards (ability to interpret and analyze dashboards rather than develop them).
β’ Experience using SharePoint for document management and collaboration.
β’ Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
β’ Strong understanding of commercial logistics business processes, with the ability to bridge operations and IT teams without serving solely as an IT Business Analyst.
β’ Must be willing to work onsite in the Houston office five (5) days per week for the first 90 days, with the potential to transition to one (1) work-from-home day per week thereafter, based on business needs and performance.
