Role description
Title: Configuration Data Engineer
Sector: Aviation
Location: Remote
Role Type: Contract
We are looking for a Configuration Data Engineer to join one of the worldβs leading eVTOL organizations. This role blends software development with configuration management to ensure product data is accurate, traceable, and compliant across the product lifecycle.
The ideal candidate will design and implement tools, reports, and automations that empower engineering and product teams to make faster, more informed configuration decisions.
The client:
The client is designing and developing eVTOL aircrafts. Their mission is to change the way we move within urban areas. They are focused on designing a future where short-distance air travel is a part of everyday life.
Their emphasis is on safety, sustainability and innovation, making them one of the leading players in the race to bring electric air mobility to life.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Designing and maintaining tools and reports to track BOMs, configuration changes, and effectivity assignments.
β’ Automating quality checks to enforce configuration management standards and reduce manual errors.
β’ Integrating with PLM systems (like Teamcenter) via APIs to extract, validate, and analyze engineering data.
β’ Writing scripts to support CAD workflows in NX, CATIA, and other design tools (NX Open, CATIA VB, Check-Mate).
β’ Supporting the structure and auditing of BOMs, including unit and date-based effectivity.
β’ Building dashboards and metrics to visualize change requests, notices, and configuration status.
β’ Collaborating with engineering, CM, and IT teams to streamline data flow and improve system interoperability.
β’ Investigating data inconsistencies and recommending corrective actions to maintain data integrity.
β’ Partnering with project teams to ensure configuration data is implemented correctly and reflected in reports.
β’ Driving continuous improvement in configuration management through data-driven insights and automation.
Required Qualifications
β’ 2+ years of experience developing tools and reports in PLM environments (e.g., Teamcenter, Windchill, Enovia, 3DX).
β’ Proficiency with relational databases (SQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle) for reporting and automation.
β’ Experience with scripting or automation in CAD/PLM environments (NX Open, CATIA VB, etc.).
β’ Strong understanding of BOM structures, unit effectivity, and date-based effectivity methods.
β’ Familiarity with engineering change processes (CRs, CNs).
β’ Ability to interpret engineering drawings, CAD data, and metadata.
β’ Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex datasets.
Preferred Qualifications:
β’ Experience with Siemens Teamcenter APIs or integrations.
β’ Familiarity with Business Intelligence tools (Power BI, Sigma, SAP Hana).
β’ Experience with ITI CADIQ and Elysium CAD translation tools.
β’ Knowledge of NX Check-Mate and CAD data validation workflows.
β’ Understanding of ASME Y14.5 Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
β’ Experience developing Adobe Forms with JavaScript and PDF publishing.
β’ Exposure to aerospace, automotive, or other complex product development environments.
β’ Knowledge of configuration management standards (CMII, EIA-649, etc.).
This is an ideal opportunity for engineers who enjoy bridging software development with product lifecycle control. Youβll play a key role in shaping how engineering data is managed, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across the enterprise.
