Role description
Connectivity/Integration Engineer β GMTC (Global Markets Transaction Capture)
Global Trading Solutions (GTS) partners with Global Markets businesses to execute on a multi-year technology and middle-office strategy focused on platform modernization, operational efficiency, scalability, and regulatory alignment. Within GTS, the Core Platform Product Management (CPPM) group delivers and supports core platforms that span Global Markets lines of business, including shared data platforms, low-latency infrastructure, and global equity applications.
GMTC (Global Markets Transaction Capture) is a GTS-developed platform used to collect, ingest, normalize, and publish trading-related datasets across Capital Markets. GMTC serves as a foundational system enabling downstream consumers across trading, risk, operations, and regulatory functions.
The CPPM group is seeking a Mid-Level Connectivity Engineer to support the onboarding, integration, and ongoing support of internal and external systems into GMTC. This role owns the end-to-end connectivity lifecycleβfrom initial design and requirements gathering through implementation, testing, and production support. The ideal candidate combines strong technical integration experience with an understanding of Capital Markets data and the ability to work effectively across network, security, vendor, and application teams.
Key Responsibilities
Connectivity & Integration
β’ Design, implement, and support end-to-end connectivity solutions to onboard internal and external systems into GMTC
β’ Evaluate and recommend appropriate connectivity approaches (e.g., FIX, MQ, Kafka, file-based) based on data type, latency, volume, resiliency, and security requirements
β’ Establish new system connections and manage the full onboarding lifecycle from initial intake through production readiness
β’ Act as the primary technical point of contact for system connectivity, working closely with vendors, internal application teams, and infrastructure partners
Network, Security & Architecture Collaboration
β’ Partner with network engineering and security teams to coordinate firewall rules, certificates, ports, protocols, and secure transmission requirements
β’ Gather, validate, and document all technical details required to establish and maintain connectivity
β’ Translate business and system requirements into clear, actionable technical integration designs
β’ Enumerate required functionality and clearly articulate pros and cons of different connectivity and integration solutions
GMTC Data Ingestion & Workflow Implementation
β’ Build, configure, and maintain GMTC ingestion workflows, including scheduling, file transfers, messaging configurations, and data publication
β’ Work with Capital Markets Data Architecture teams to support data normalization and alignment with enterprise standards
β’ Implement and support workflows across multiple data scenarios, including trades, positions, cash, and related market data
β’ Ensure data integrity, reliability, and completeness throughout the ingestion and publishing lifecycle
Production Support & Continuous Improvement
β’ Develop and maintain support and monitoring plans for GMTC connectivity and integrations
β’ Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical and data-related issues across environments
β’ Support incident management, root-cause analysis, and remediation efforts
β’ Document defects, enhancements, and technical requirements throughout the software development lifecycle
β’ Participate in testing activities to ensure connectivity solutions meet functional and non-functional requirements
Qualifications
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
β’ Hands-on experience designing and implementing system integrations and connectivity end to end
β’ Strong understanding of messaging and integration technologies, including FIX, MQ (IBM MQ), Kafka, and related protocols
β’ Experience working with network and security teams on firewall configuration, certificates (SSL/TLS), ports, and secure data transmission
β’ Familiarity with Capital Markets concepts and data types, including trades, positions, cash, and valuations
β’ Proficiency in SQL for data analysis and validation
β’ Experience supporting production systems in a fast-paced, regulated environment
β’ Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills
β’ Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams
Nice-to-Have
β’ Prior experience in a sell-side trading, trade support, or Capital Markets technology environment
β’ Experience onboarding vendor systems or external counterparties
β’ Familiarity with trading and back-office platforms such as Calypso, GlobalOne, LoanIQ, or similar systems
β’ Working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems, including command-line tools
β’ Experience with incident management, monitoring, and operational readiness practices
What Success Looks Like
β’ New systems are onboarded into GMTC efficiently, securely, and with clear documentation
β’ Connectivity solutions are resilient, supportable, and aligned with business and regulatory requirements
β’ Stakeholders across Capital Markets, infrastructure, and vendors view this role as a trusted technical integration partner
β’ GMTC continues to scale as a reliable, enterprise-grade transaction capture platform
