Contract AI Engineer with Global Energy Company

This is a really exciting Contract opportunity for an AI Engineer with a strong foundation in Data Engineering to join this world leading Energy Trading company. The role would be part of a long term Strategic IT project, with ongoing contract extensions and possibly a transition to permanent. The Engineer will partner with traders and trading analysts to rapidly build AI‑powered analytics over market pricing and fundamentals data, using Databricks and Spark to deliver value at speed. Core Technical Skills Programming: Python Hands‑on Databricks + Spark expertise (PySpark, SQL, Delta, Unity Catalog) Proven data engineering skills (ingestion, modelling, orchestration, performance tuning) Strong statistics/economics/data science fundamentals for market time‑series Responsibilities Build and ship AI-driven analytics and LLM/agentic workflows (forecasting, scenario modelling, RAG, LangGraph) on scalable Databricks pipelines, balancing performance, cost, and reliability. Run statistical and econometric analyses on large financial datasets, translating complex trader/analyst questions into production-ready solutions with full testing, observability, and documentation.
