Role description
Role: Business Analyst - Central AI Capability (Commercial Operations) Project: Enterprise AI delivery & transformation programme Industry: Energy/commodities Location: London (hybrid 2–3 days per week) Contract: 6 months initial (multi-year scope) Salary: £650-750/d (inside IR35) X4 Technology are partnered with a leading global energy/commodities firm undergoing significant AI-driven transformation across Commercial Operations. They're offering the opportunity for an experienced contract Business Analyst to join a central AI capability team supporting enterprise-wide delivery initiatives. This role will play a critical part in shaping and delivering AI use cases from initial problem definition through to production deployment, ensuring initiatives deliver measurable business value and avoid stalling at proof-of-concept stage. The successful candidate will act as a bridge between business stakeholders, AI engineering teams, IT architecture, governance and delivery functions, helping establish scalable and repeatable AI delivery practices across multiple portfolios. This is a highly visible role focused on AI use case discovery, value realisation, governance alignment and end-to-end business analysis across a fast-moving commercial environment. Responsibilities for the Contract Business Analyst (Central AI Capability) • Identify, shape and deliver high-value AI use cases across Commercial Operations, from discovery and prioritisation through to production deployment and value realisation • Translate business challenges into AI-ready requirements, success metrics and delivery scope while driving automation and optimisation opportunities • Lead stakeholder workshops and collaborate across business, AI engineering, architecture and governance teams to deliver scalable AI initiatives across multiple portfolios Responsibilities of the Contract Business Analyst (Central AI Capability) • 7+ years’ Business Analysis experience within enterprise delivery environments, with strong exposure to AI, data and automation initiatives • Strong Agile delivery experience (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban), with exposure to AI technologies including NLP, LLMs, document automation and AI agents • Experience supporting enterprise transformation programmes, including ability to manage senior stakeholders across business and technology functions • Background within commercial operations, trading or commodities environments (nice to have) This is an excellent opportunity to join a central AI capability function at the forefront of enterprise transformation, delivering high-impact initiatives with visibility across commercial, operational and technology leadership teams.
