Creative Director, Optimization

About BX Studio
BX Studio is a ~80-person digital agency and Webflow’s Enterprise Partner of the Year. We build websites that become revenue engines for companies including Reddit, Headspace, and Verifone.
Why this role exists
There’s a gap around strategic creative direction on our ongoing retainers. Without a senior creative voice staffed on these accounts, we default to reactive mode: shipping tickets, waiting for briefs, and missing the conversations that turn retained clients into true strategic partners.
This role fixes that. The Creative Director, Optimization is the senior creative leader embedded across a portfolio of BX’s top retained accounts. You’ll develop a strategic process that turns analytics into design opportunity, position BX as the proactive creative partner clients didn’t know they were missing, and expand design revenue on accounts where we’ve already earned trust.
What you’ll do
Lead creative direction across a portfolio of retained accounts
• Own the creative point of view on a book of optimization clients, paired with Account Managers, Project Managers, designers, developers, and data analysts.
• Deliver a monthly web strategy and CRO cadence on each account with a prioritized set of recommended initiatives.
• Audit execution output rather than pixel-push it. Your job is to maintain brand fidelity, UX rigor, and design quality across a portfolio - not to be the sole executor on any one account.
Apply the B2B playbook on demand
• You've internalized the B2B SaaS web playbook — the patterns that consistently work for pricing pages, product pages, nav architecture, social proof placement, form design, CTA hierarchy, demo request flows, and the dozens of other conventions that separate sites that convert from sites that don't.
• When a client's site is missing fundamentals, you recognize it immediately and make the call without needing a research cycle to justify it. This isn't about dogma; it's pattern recognition built from years of learning about what moves pipeline for B2B buyers.
• You'll deliver ad-hoc creative recommendations in real time — on client calls, in Slack, in response to a launched page that isn't performing — and to explain why a change matters in terms a CMO or VP of Marketing will understand and act on.
Turn data into design opportunity
• Interpret analyst reports to identify friction, engagement patterns, and conversion opportunities, then translate those insights into concrete design recommendations.
• Partner closely with our data analysts to ground every recommendation in evidence.
• Operate fluently across analytics narrative, UX strategy, and brand creative — clients should feel like they’re hiring three senior advisors in one.
Drive design revenue expansion
• Work alongside Account Managers to identify brand, UX, and CRO upsell opportunities inside the existing book of business.
• Scope and shape new initiatives — brand refreshes, landing page systems, microsites, campaign work — that originate from your strategic work on the account.
• Convert reactive, ticket-based accounts into proactive strategic partnerships with an expanding scope.
Shape how BX runs optimization
• Partner with BX leadership on the ongoing evolution of our optimization service model — squad structure, retained service packaging, pricing, and productization.
• Establish repeatable deliverables (monthly report templates, audit frameworks, strategic check-in cadences) that can scale across accounts without diluting quality.
• Pilot, measure, and refine Web Strategy & CRO retained service with a small set of initial accounts before rolling it out broadly.
AI-Native by default
At BX, AI is infrastructure, not novelty. We expect this role to actively leverage AI across the creative workflow, not delegate it to someone else:
• Use AI-assisted wireframing, prototyping, and design system tools (Claude, Figma AI, Cloud Design, Paper, and emerging alternatives) to accelerate from insight to artifact.
• Build and maintain design system primitives — tokens, canonical components, markdown style guides — that let AI agents execute with brand fidelity on long-running work.
• Evaluate AI-generated output against brand standards and intervene when drift occurs.
• Continuously evaluate emerging tools; bring back what improves quality, speed, or margin, and discard what doesn’t.
Who you are
• 5+ years in creative direction, with experience leading retained client engagements inside an agency environment.
• Enterprise experience. You know what polish looks like for leading B2B organizations and have the portfolio to prove it.
• Strategist first, designer second. You can still pixel-push when needed, but your highest leverage is strategic direction on UX, brand, and CRO decisions — not solo execution.
• Analytics-literate. You’re comfortable with analytics reports and can consider data in the design process.
• Exceptional written and spoken English communicator. This is a senior client-facing role — you’ll be the creative voice in the room with B2B marketing leaders.
• Deep experience across B2B lead web design, CMS-driven websites, and conversion-optimized design patterns.
• You’ve used AI in production creative workflows — not just experimented with it.
Structure & compensation
• Reports to the Creative Director; works in close partnership with Account Management leadership.
• Fully remote
• Performance upside tied to design revenue growth across your portfolio of accounts.
• Flexible PTO
