Role description
We’re seeking a Cyber Recovery Engineer to support the design, testing, and operation of cyber recovery capabilities in a regulated financial services environment. This role focuses on isolated recovery environments (IRE), clean room operations, backup platforms, and regulatory compliance. You’ll partner with senior engineers and grow into ownership of recovery workstreams within 12–18 months.
Hybrid 3 days a week onsite
Responsibilities
• Support operation of isolated recovery environments and clean room infrastructure
• Execute recovery runbooks during simulations and full recovery tests
• Monitor and manage enterprise backup platforms (e.g., Cohesity, Rubrik, Veeam, Zerto)
• Perform backup validation, restore testing, and track RTO/RPO metrics
• Document procedures, test results, and remediation actions
• Assist with regulatory audits, evidence collection, and compliance reporting (FFIEC, NIST, NYDFS)
• Contribute to recovery automation and scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
• Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and application teams on recovery readiness
Minimum qualifications
• 7–10 years of experience in infrastructure engineering, IT operations, or related technical role
• Experience in financial services or a regulated environment (e.g., healthcare, government, utilities)
• Hands-on exposure to disaster recovery or backup operations
• Experience with at least one enterprise backup/replication platform
• Basic scripting skills (Python, Bash, or PowerShell)
• Understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, VLANs, firewalls, routing)
• Strong technical documentation skills
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (e.g., FFIEC, NIST CSF, NYDFS)
Preferred qualifications
• Experience with clean room or isolated recovery environments
• Exposure to audits or regulatory examinations
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible)
• Background in cybersecurity, resilience, or cloud infrastructure
• Relevant certifications (e.g., Security+, CySA+, AWS/Azure fundamentals)
• Experience with ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow)
• Exposure to incident response or ransomware recovery exercises
