Role description
About the Role: We are looking for a Data Analyst / Senior Data Analyst to join a leading Banking & Financial Services client in London. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in data modelling, data governance, and stakeholder engagement, with the ability to translate business requirements into effective data solutions. This role requires collaboration across business and technology teams to ensure high-quality, well-structured, and governed data that supports business decision-making and analytics. Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain data models using techniques such as 3NF, Star/Snowflake schemas, or Data Vault 2.0. Work with data modelling tools (e.g., erwin, PowerDesigner, Sparx EA) and apply version control for model maintenance. Create and manage data dictionaries, taxonomies, and reference/master data, ensuring appropriate governance and updates. Partner with business and technical teams to define data requirements, success criteria, and data-driven use cases. Support data warehouse / lakehouse development and ETL/ELT data integration processes. Document data lineage and impact analysis, collaborating with architecture and governance teams. Assist in defining as-is and to-be data processes and performing gap analyses. Contribute to data governance, data quality, and privacy-by-design initiatives. Essential Skills & Experience: Proven experience in data modelling (3NF, Star/Snowflake, Data Vault 2.0). Hands-on with data modelling tools such as erwin, PowerDesigner, or Sparx EA. Strong understanding of data dictionaries, metadata management, and master/reference data governance. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills — able to work with both technical and non-technical teams. Experience in data warehouse/lakehouse concepts and ETL/ELT design patterns. Desirable Skills: Exposure to business analysis and translating business needs into data requirements. Familiarity with data lineage tools (e.g., Solidatus) and impact analysis processes. Understanding of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA DMBOK). Awareness of data security, privacy, and RBAC (Role-Based Access Control). Banking or financial services domain experience preferred.
