Role description
Data Analyst (Clean Transportation / EV Data) Location: Denver Or Minneapolis Type: Contract (Potential for Conversion) Position Overview We are seeking a Data Analyst to support the Clean Transportation team, focusing on electric vehicle (EV) and utility data. This role centers on building Power BI dashboards, developing Python-based data solutions, and supporting regulatory reporting. You’ll work across multiple data sources to collect, clean, analyze, and present data in a way that drives decision-making for program managers and regulatory stakeholders. This is a highly collaborative role with exposure to business, product, and data teams. Scope of Work • Support Clean Transportation initiatives with EV and energy usage data • Build and maintain Power BI dashboards for financial and interval (electric usage) reporting • Develop and maintain Python scripts and Jupyter Notebook workflows • Contribute to quarterly regulatory reporting (external-facing deliverables) • Investigate and source data across multiple systems, ensuring accuracy and consistency • Translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insights Key Responsibilities • Perform data collection, validation, cleansing, and analysis • Design, code, test, and debug ETL processes, SQL queries, and scripts • Build and enhance interactive dashboards using Power BI (DAX) • Query and extract data from SQL databases (including Databricks), APIs, and SAP systems • Maintain and adapt existing codebases to meet evolving business needs • Create recurring and ad hoc reports for internal and external stakeholders • Document data processes, reporting logic, and best practices • Support multiple workstreams and ad hoc data requests Typical Work • Tracking down and validating data from multiple sources • Updating dashboards and reporting metrics • Supporting financial and operational reporting needs • Preparing quarterly regulatory submissions • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to align on data requirements Required Technical Skills • Python (including Jupyter Notebooks) • Power BI (dashboard development) • DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) • SQL (querying and data extraction) • Advanced Microsoft Excel Nice-to-Have Skills • Databricks • Salesforce (CRM experience) • Microsoft Power Automate • SAP Business Objects / SAP HANA • Understanding of data modeling and normalization concepts Required Experience • 1–3 years of experience in data analytics or similar role • Proven experience building Power BI dashboards (required) • Experience working with multiple data sources and large datasets • Background in utility, energy, or infrastructure data (preferred) Soft Skills & Traits • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset • Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams • Effective communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects • Interest in clean energy, EV infrastructure, and utility space • Focus on building scalable, sustainable data solutions Work Environment • Highly collaborative and cross-functional • Supports multiple workstreams simultaneously • Standard 40-hour workweek What Makes This Role Unique • Work on EV and clean transportation initiatives • Exposure to regulatory reporting and external-facing data products • Opportunity to build impactful dashboards used by business leaders • Blend of technical development and business-facing analytics Pre-Screening Questions • What interests you about working in Clean Transportation within a utility company? • Describe a process you’ve automated or improved.
