Data Analyst Contractor - Insurance Data
We are supporting a contract engagement for an experienced Data Analyst specialist to deliver a high-quality reporting and analytics capability within an insurance data environment. The focus of this role is accelerating the delivery of a scalable reporting solution, enabling business users to access reliable, self-service insight through modern BI tools.
This engagement would suit a contractor who enjoys working close to the data, building robust transformation pipelines and translating complex insurance datasets into clear, decision-ready reporting.
The Role
You will take ownership of designing and building a new data transformation and reporting layer, working with live policy and transactional data from a core insurance platform. The output will be a set of trusted datasets and dashboards used across commercial, operational and risk-focused teams.

Semantic modelling for analytics
Power BI dataset and dashboard delivery
Stakeholder collaboration and validation
Key Responsibilities

Design and develop efficient ETL processes to prepare operational insurance data for analytics
Model data into a clear and scalable semantic layer suitable for self-service reporting
Build and optimise Power BI datasets, measures and dashboards
Translate business reporting needs into reliable technical solutions
Validate data accuracy and consistency across the reporting pipeline
Maintain clear documentation and follow disciplined development practices
Essential Experience & Skills

Advanced SQL capability, including work with complex, highly normalised schemas
Hands-on experience working with data from core insurance platforms (Acturis would be ideal)
Strong understanding of insurance data concepts such as policies, transactions, movements and premiums
Proven Power BI experience, including data modelling and DAX
Ability to operate autonomously while collaborating with distributed stakeholders
High attention to detail with a strong focus on data quality and trust
