Role description
This vacancy is only available for those currently employed at Plymouth City Council. Applications submitted by External candidates who do not meet this criteria will not be considered and will be rejected. Plymouth City Council, Devolution and LGR Office Fixed term to 1 February 2027 Plymouth is at the centre of one of the biggest changes to local government in a generation. Devon's eleven councils are working together to design new unitary arrangements, and Plymouth is leading the case for four unitaries within that picture. We Are Looking For a Data Analyst To Join The Devolution And LGR Office And Bring Together The Evidence Base That Underpins This Work. You Will • pull together operational data from across the Council, covering workforce, finance, assets, contracts and technology • cleanse, reconcile and validate it into a single, defensible evidence base • build refreshable transformations in Power Query, Power BI and SQL so that the same data serves LGR submissions and other business needs • work directly with service leads and system owners to secure source data and resolve definitional ambiguity • record assumptions and limitations clearly enough that the work stands up in front of senior officers, partners and external advisers. We are looking for someone with strong experience of data transformation, advanced Excel and Power Query, working knowledge of Power BI, and the confidence to challenge service colleagues constructively to get the data right. A sound understanding of local government operating data is essential. SQL, Python or experience with Microsoft Fabric, and familiarity with public sector finance structures, are all welcome. The post is based at Ballard House, Plymouth.
