Role description
Data Analyst (Governance & Controls) Robert Half is supporting a global financial services partner in sourcing an experienced Data Analyst to join a large-scale data governance and control programme. The roles will focus on improving data quality, control frameworks, and governance standards across multiple business areas while supporting functional testing and reporting activities. Assignment Details • Initial Duration: 6 months (likely extension given scope) • Location: Hybrid – 2–3 days per week in Edinburgh office • Day Rate: £400+12.07% via PAYE with employer’s NI & Tax deducted at source – unlike umbrella companies and no umbrella company admin fees) • Start Date: ASAP Key Skills & Experience • Strong Financial Services banking background • Strong background in Business and Data Analysis, working with large datasets to identify trends, issues, and improvement opportunities • Good understanding of data governance and control frameworks, including data lineage, metadata, and quality management • Experience supporting functional testing (UAT/data validation) and preparing test scenarios and evidence • Familiarity with data management principles across regulatory or risk environments • Competent with SQL, Excel, and data-driven analysis techniques • Collaborative working style with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders across business, risk, and technology teams • Exposure to data tooling such as Power BI, Alteryx, or Collibra (desirable) • Awareness of financial services control standards (FCA, PRA, BCBS 239, DORA) You’ll join a maturing data governance and control function helping to strengthen the organisation’s overall data integrity and compliance posture. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Data Analyst who enjoys combining analytical capability with governance, control, and testing disciplines — working in a complex, data-rich environment with strong internal visibility and scope for extension. All candidates must complete standard screening (Right to Work, DBS, credit/sanctions, employment verification).
