Data Analyst (Healthcare / EDI / SQL / Tableau)
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Data Analyst to support reporting, data analysis, and process improvement initiatives within a fast-paced healthcare environment. This role is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data from multiple source systems to deliver meaningful insights that support business and technology teams.
The ideal candidate has strong SQL and reporting experience, understands healthcare data and EDI processes, and enjoys solving complex business problems through data analysis. This position requires someone who can work independently, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and adapt to changing business priorities.
Key Responsibilities
• Analyze data from multiple systems to identify trends, inconsistencies, and business insights.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance reports, dashboards, and ad hoc analyses using SQL and reporting tools such as Tableau.
• Gather business requirements and translate them into meaningful reporting solutions.
• Create and maintain SLA, operational, and performance metric reporting.
• Document data definitions, business rules, data mappings, and source system information.
• Support Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) reporting and file exchange initiatives.
• Investigate production issues, perform root cause analysis, and provide data-driven recommendations.
• Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, data quality, and operational efficiency.
• Partner with business and technical teams to ensure reporting solutions meet organizational needs.
• Maintain reporting processes and ensure data accuracy and integrity.
• Thrive in an environment with evolving priorities and changing business requirements.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3+ years of experience as a Data Analyst, Reporting Analyst, Business Analyst, or similar role.
• Strong SQL development and data analysis experience.
• Experience creating reports and dashboards using Tableau or similar BI tools.
• Experience supporting application development projects or project initiatives.
• Experience with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and file exchange processes.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
• Healthcare industry experience, particularly with Medicare and Medicaid.
• Knowledge of healthcare claims and encounter data.
• Experience working with HIPAA-compliant healthcare data.
• Experience in Agile and matrixed organizations.
• Understanding of healthcare operational reporting and performance metrics.
• Experience documenting business processes, data definitions, and technical requirements.
