Role description
Role: FHIR Data Analyst Location: Newark, NJ FHIR Data Analyst (Hands-On Implementation) β€’ Serve as a hands-on analyst on FHIR implementation initiatives, supporting design, build, testing, and deployment of FHIR-based data solutions β€’ Analyse healthcare data domains (e.g., Member, Eligibility, Coverage, Claims, Prior Authorization, Clinical data) and map them to appropriate FHIR resources and profiles β€’ Interpret and apply FHIR Implementation Guides (IGs) such as payer, provider, or regulatory IGs (e.g., US Core, Da Vinci, CARIN) to implementation work β€’ Create and maintain FHIR mappings, resource definitions, extensions, and value set bindings β€’ Collaborate with architects and developers on FHIR API design, payload structure, search parameters, and versioning strategies β€’ Validate FHIR conformance using tools such as FHIR validators, test servers, and reference implementations β€’ Support data quality, normalization, and transformation efforts between source systems and FHIR endpoints β€’ Participate in end-to-end testing, including unit, integration, and UAT, ensuring alignment with IG requirements and business use cases β€’ Produce high-quality documentation including data mappings, FHIR resource specifications, conformance notes, and test scenarios β€’ Act as a subject matter expert for FHIR-related questions across technical and business teams Required Qualifications β€’ 5+ years of healthcare data or systems analysis experience, with at least 2+ years focused on FHIR implementations β€’ Demonstrated, hands-on experience delivering real FHIR projects (not just conceptual knowledge) β€’ Strong understanding of HL7 FHIR R4 resources, profiles, extensions, value sets, and terminology services β€’ Proven experience working with FHIR Implementation Guides (IGs) and applying them to production solutions β€’ Experience with healthcare data standards such as HL7 v2, CDA, X12, and mapping them to FHIR β€’ Familiarity with RESTful APIs, JSON, and API testing tools (e.g., Postman) β€’ Ability to work closely with engineers while independently owning data analysis and mapping work β€’ Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder collaboration skills
