Job#: 3025974 Job Description: Senior Data Analyst (Contract) - Drilling & Completions Location: Hybrid, Denver, CO Employment Type: Contract Industry: Energy / Oil & Gas (D&C Focus) Overview A leading energy organization is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to support its Drilling & Completions (D&C) operations in the Rockies region. This role is embedded directly within operations and will transform large, complex datasets into actionable insights that improve operational efficiency, well performance, and capital planning. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled SQL and BI expert capable of building dashboards, performing advanced analytics, and supporting both engineering and field teams. Responsibilities Data Analysis & Insights • Extract, analyze, and interpret complex datasets to support operational and strategic decisions. • Build and optimize SQL queries across enterprise data systems. • Analyze drilling and completions performance, timelines, costs, and operational KPIs. • Translate technical analyses into clear, actionable business insights. Dashboard Development • Build, enhance, and maintain Power BI and/or Spotfire dashboards. • Create intuitive visualizations for technical and non-technical audiences. • Ensure data source connectivity, refresh reliability, and dashboard performance. Process Automation • Automate manual and repetitive data workflows. • Develop reusable SQL templates, data pipelines, and stored procedures. • Identify and implement optimization opportunities in reporting processes. Collaboration & Support • Partner with D&C engineers, operations, IT, and data teams to meet analytical needs. • Manage ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests. • Document data logic, data lineage, and reporting standards. Data Quality & Governance • Perform ongoing data validation and quality control. • Monitor data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness. • Support master data management including wells, pads, and operational hierarchies. Required Qualifications • 3+ years as a Data Analyst, BI Analyst, or similar role. • 2+ years writing complex SQL (CTEs, joins, window functions, query optimization). • 2+ years developing dashboards in Power BI and/or Spotfire. • Experience supporting operations, engineering, or field teams. • Strong understanding of relational databases and data modeling. • Proficiency with Excel; experience with Git or Azure DevOps is a plus. • Excellent communication, presentation, and data storytelling skills. • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Finance, or related field. Preferred Qualifications • Drilling & Completions or upstream oil & gas experience. • Experience with well data management systems (OpenWells, PPDM-based systems, Landmark, etc.). • Understanding of drilling and completions metrics (API numbers, formations, drill days, frac stages, etc.). • Programming skills in Python or R. • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform. • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS).
