Role description
Our client is seeking a Data Analyst for an exciting contract to hire scenario. The Data Analyst, Infrastructure (Data) plays a crucial role in leveraging data science expertise to drive informed decision-making, initiative prioritization, and district-wide accountability. This position analyzes and interprets diverse data sources to identify patterns and trends, supports data management and visualization operations aligned with district initiatives, and addresses complex data-related challenges through innovative solutions.
DUTIES:
• Leverage data science skills and expertise in designing research, analyzing statistics, visualizing data, and creating reports. Evaluate and manage data requests and coordinate those requests with others in the department. Collaborate to understand business requirements and translate them into applicable solutions. Maintain communication with and deliver well-defined responses to internal and external requestors.
• Design, create and maintain dashboards and reports, identifying improvement opportunities, while designing, coding, testing, and maintaining data visualization dashboards across multiple platforms (Tableau, PowerBI, Qualtrics) to ensure optimal performance and functionality.
• Develop complex Structured Query Language (SQL) queries, stored procedures, and views for data extraction and manipulation, while managing dataset uploads, optimizing database structures, and collaborating with teams to address data quality issues, ensuring accurate and reliable analysis.
• Conduct in-depth research, modeling, and statistical analysis to create adaptive reports and performance dashboards. Develop scenarios, interpret outcomes, and communicate progress on the key performance indicators of District Strategic planning and Board of Education initiatives. Document business requirements, data sources,and programming logic to provide comprehensive insights supporting district policies and informed decision-making processes.
• Provide district-wide professional development for end users to gain essential skills in navigating dashboards and creating customized reports.
• Lead or support project teams while regularly evaluating processes, coding, and requirements to identify and implement opportunities for improvement and automation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, research, or statistics or a minimum of five years commensurate experience.
• 2+ years of experience in data analysis.
• Strong oral communication, written communication, interpersonal, analytical troubleshooting, and time management skills.
• 2+ years of Visual Analytics platforms (Tableau, Power BI, etc.) Excel, Word, Access.
• Advanced knowledge of complex relational databases and querying procedures, strong analytical SQL skills with a keen eye for detail and data accuracy - experience with another analytical language is a bonus (e.g. R or Python).
• Strong knowledge of common reporting software (e.g., Tableau, Smartsheets, PowerBI, Qualtrics, and MS Access reports) and practices highly preferred.
• Ability to work in a diverse work environment.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple, concurrent, and conflicting priorities and deadlines. Advanced knowledge of statistics and research methodology.
• Advanced operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers,
• Visual Analytics platforms (Tableau, Power BI, etc.) Excel, Word, Access.
