Role description
Tax Automation & Alteryx Data Analyst
Location: London (Hybrid – 2 days per week in office, either Mon/Wed or Tue/Wed)
Contract: 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract
Salary: £93,000 – £103,000 + Guaranteed Full Bonus
Reports to: Head of Tax Transformation
The Opportunity
My client is seeking a highly analytical Tax Automation & AI Data Analyst to join the Tax Transformation team on a 12-month fixed-term basis.
This role sits at the intersection of data engineering, automation and applied AI.
You will play a key role in helping the Tax function modernise its operating model by combining established automation technologies such as Alteryx with emerging AI capabilities, including LLM-powered tools and Agentic AI solutions.
Working directly with tax subject matter experts, you will help transform manual and spreadsheet-heavy processes into scalable, controlled and auditable solutions.
This is a hands-on delivery role focused on building practical automation and AI-enabled capabilities rather than leading people.
The successful candidate will be passionate about using data and technology to solve business problems, confident engaging with non-technical stakeholders and able to help teams identify new ways AI can create value across Tax operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop and maintain Alteryx workflows that automate complex tax and finance processes.
• Partner with Tax SMEs to identify, prioritise and build a pipeline of automation and AI use cases.
• Use data engineering and automation techniques to reduce manual processing and improve operational efficiency.
• Support the development and implementation of AI-enabled solutions, including LLM-based tools, Claude use cases and Agentic AI capabilities.
• Help the Tax function understand how AI can be practically and responsibly applied to enhance processes and decision-making.
• Build controlled, auditable solutions within a regulated financial services environment.
• Source, cleanse, validate and reconcile data from multiple systems and datasets.
• Develop reporting, dashboards and analytical outputs to support operational and strategic tax activities.
• Create clear technical documentation and promote adoption of new tools and processes.
• Work closely with data engineering colleagues to help meet growing demand for automation and AI initiatives across the department.
• Proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement and bring forward innovative solutions.
Essential Skills & Experience
Minimum Requirements
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business challenges into data-driven solutions.
• Hands-on experience developing business-critical workflows in Alteryx.
• Alteryx certification or willingness to obtain certification quickly.
• Experience working with complex datasets and data transformation activities.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Experience applying AI technologies within business processes, particularly:
• LLM-based tools (e.g. Claude, ChatGPT or similar)
• Prompt engineering and AI-assisted workflows
• Emerging Agentic AI capabilities
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage and influence non-technical users.
Desirable Experience
• Financial Services, Insurance or another highly regulated environment.
• Experience supporting finance, tax, risk or control-related processes.
• Knowledge of Power BI or similar visualisation tools.
• Experience building AI-enabled automation solutions.
• Understanding of governance, controls and risk considerations when deploying AI capabilities.
• Exposure to tax, finance transformation or process improvement initiatives.
Candidate Profile
We're looking for someone who:
• Has strong Alteryx expertise as their core capability.
• Is excited by the practical application of AI in business environments.
• Can bridge the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Enjoys helping non-technical colleagues adopt new technologies.
• Thinks creatively about how data and AI can transform processes.
