Title: Reporting Data Analyst with (P&C Insurance) Type: Contract Job Description: The Reporting Data Analyst partners with business groups across the Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance domain to define and deliver reporting and data extract requirements. This role serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on enterprise data warehouse (EDW/DWH) content and key insurance source systems, ensuring accurate interpretation of insurance data, consistent business definitions, regulatory alignment, and reliable reporting outputs. This position requires deep Commercial P&C industry experience, not just reporting expertise. The ideal candidate must demonstrate: β€’ Strong functional knowledge of Commercial P&C lines of business β€’ Hands-on familiarity with insurance source systems, particularly: β€’ Guidewire PolicyCenter β€’ Guidewire ClaimCenter β€’ Guidewire BillingCenter (working knowledge) β€’ Genius β€’ SAP β€’ Clear understanding of how insurance data is generated in source systems and how it flows into the enterprise data warehouse β€’ Ability to articulate data lineage, transformations, reconciliation logic, and business rules High-level insurance knowledge is insufficient. The successful candidate must be able to connect commercial insurance operations to underlying data structures and warehouse models. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES β€’ Act as a data and domain SME for P&C insurance subject areas, including policy, claims, billing, and financial data. β€’ Demonstrate expertise in Commercial P&C lines, including but not limited to: β€’ Commercial Auto β€’ General Liability β€’ Workers’ Compensation β€’ Commercial Property β€’ Umbrella / Excess β€’ Inland Marine β€’ Professional Liability β€’ Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather, clarify, and validate reporting and data extract requirements. β€’ Translate insurance business concepts into accurate data logic, KPIs, metrics, and dimensional definitions. β€’ Leverage knowledge of source applications (Guidewire, Genius, SAP) to ensure correct data interpretation, lineage, and traceability. β€’ Explain how commercial policy lifecycle events (submission, quote, bind, issue, endorsement, renewal, cancellation, reinstatement) are represented in source system data. β€’ Analyze claims lifecycle data including reserves, payments, recoveries, and claim financials. β€’ Ensure reports and extracts align with approved business definitions, regulatory requirements, and data governance standards. β€’ Create and validate complex SQL queries, views, and semantic-layer objects against the enterprise data warehouse. β€’ Review and certify reports for accuracy, reconciliation, completeness, and consistency across source systems and the warehouse. β€’ Investigate and resolve data discrepancies by tracing issues through source systems, integration layers, and ETL processes. β€’ Document data definitions, lineage, business rules, mappings, and reporting assumptions. β€’ Support UAT efforts and partner with data engineering teams to resolve defects and enhance reporting capabilities. β€’ Educate business users on proper interpretation and usage of commercial insurance data and reporting outputs. β€’ Follow established communication channels and escalation paths when addressing data or reporting issues. TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS β€’ 8+ years of experience as a hands-on IT Reporting Data Analyst. β€’ 4+ years of experience in reporting or data analysis within the Property & Casualty insurance industry (Commercial lines strongly preferred). β€’ Reinsurance experience preferred but not required. β€’ 3+ years hands-on experience with: β€’ Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) β€’ Microsoft Power BI β€’ Or similar BI/reporting platforms β€’ Working knowledge of insurance source systems such as: β€’ Guidewire (Policy, Billing, Claims) β€’ Genius β€’ SAP β€’ Strong SQL skills with experience querying enterprise data warehouses. β€’ Strong understanding of: β€’ Source-to-target mappings β€’ Data lineage β€’ Enterprise data warehouse architecture β€’ Dimensional modeling (facts, dimensions, aggregations) β€’ Enterprise reporting concepts β€’ Ability to reconcile data between transactional systems and warehouse environments. GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS β€’ Strong initiative; able to self-manage in complex environments. β€’ Comfortable with ambiguity and able to work through it to deliver accurate, business-aligned outcomes. β€’ Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with clear understanding of communication channels and escalation paths. β€’ Proven experience working directly with senior business stakeholders and cross-functional IT teams. β€’ Ability to explain complex data concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. β€’ Recognized as a trusted insurance and data SME. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS β€’ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, related field, or equivalent professional experience.
