Job Description:
We are seeking a Data Analyst with strong analytical and technical skills to support risk analytics initiatives across multiple financial products, including payments, payroll, banking, capital, and bill pay.
This is a fast-moving contract role, created to backfill an urgent team's need. The role is ideal for someone who can quickly ramp up and contribute to ongoing analytics, reporting, and data pipeline work.
Team & Function
• Part of the Policy Risk Analytics team (~9–10 members)
• Supports risk strategy across all QuickBooks money movement products
• Works closely with policy, product, and cross-functional stakeholders
Focus on:
• Risk analytics & fraud insights
• KPI development & tracking
• Dashboarding & reporting
• Data pipeline structuring
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and potential risks
• Build and maintain dashboards and reports using visualization tools
• Write and optimize SQL queries for data extraction and transformation
• Support development of data pipelines (light transformation layer over existing data engineering work)
• Define and track KPIs and business metrics
• Assist in funnel analysis (e.g., customer onboarding → usage → risk/fraud outcomes)
• Collaborate with stakeholders to:
• Understand business problems
• Communicate insights and data issues clearly
• Contribute to evolving analytics solutions, including AI-driven dashboard transformations
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Experience: ~3–4+ years in data analytics or similar roles
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Master’s is a plus)
Core Skills
Analytical Thinking:
• Ability to work with ambiguous problems
• Identify root causes in business and data issues
• Detect trends and inconsistencies
Communication:
• Clearly explain findings to non-technical stakeholders
• Translate data insights into business context
• Build strong working relationships
SQL (Mandatory):
• Strong querying skills for data analysis and transformation
Data Visualization:
• Experience with tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or QuickSight
• Ability to build dashboards and define metrics
End-to-End Analytical Execution:
• Combine technical, analytical, and communication skills
• Contribute to KPI development, reporting, and funnel analysis
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in risk, fraud, or compliance domains
• Familiarity with Python (not mandatory)
• Exposure to AI tools / agent-based workflows (e.g., Cursor, Claude, or similar)
• Experience working in fast-paced, cross-functional environments
Background in product or customer-facing analytics
