Role description
McLean, VA – Data Analyst Specialist
LHH has a client who needs a McLean, VA – Data Analyst Specialist will be supporting the Enterprise Business Model (EBM) effort, a strategic initiative focused on modernizing enterprise data through standardized models, improved data quality, and a shared, well-governed data ecosystem.
What You'll Do:
• Analyze, extract, and interpret data from enterprise databases to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and data inconsistencies.
• Validate data accuracy and consistency against enterprise data models, business rules, and governance standards.
• Perform data profiling and quality assessments to evaluate completeness, validity, and integrity of enterprise data.
• Investigate data quality issues, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Compare legacy and future-state data models while documenting data differences and transformation requirements.
• Collaborate with business, application, and data teams to understand data flows, transformations, dependencies, and ownership.
• Facilitate cross-functional meetings to resolve data issues and align on data definitions and quality expectations.
• Support enterprise data governance initiatives by maintaining metadata, data lineage, business definitions, and control documentation.
• Reconcile data across multiple systems and ensure alignment with enterprise business models.
• Track data issues, remediation activities, risks, and project deliverables while communicating status updates to stakeholders and leadership.
• Support historical data migration efforts, including data validation, testing, reconciliation, and operational readiness.
• Develop reports, documentation, and analytical insights to support enterprise data modernization initiatives.
What You'll Bring:
• Strong experience with relational and non-relational databases, including advanced SQL for complex data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
• Proficiency in Python for data analysis, scripting, automation, validation, and reconciliation.
• Experience with Excel (advanced formulas, Pivot Tables) and semi-structured data formats such as JSON and XML.
• Knowledge of REST APIs for data integration and analysis.
• Hands-on experience in data profiling, data quality assessment, and data validation using manual and automated tools.
• Strong understanding of enterprise data models, data governance, metadata management, data lineage, and data lifecycle management.
• Experience analyzing large, complex datasets while identifying trends, anomalies, and business impacts.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical data solutions and assess upstream/downstream data dependencies.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Foundational project management skills with experience tracking risks, issues, dependencies, and deliverables.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and the adaptability to learn new technologies in fast-paced environments.
• Experience supporting enterprise data modernization, migration, reconciliation, or governance initiatives is preferred.
• Mortgage or financial services industry experience, including familiarity with Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, or similar GSE environments, is a plus.

💵 Pay: $55 – $62/hr.
