Description
Supported enterprise data governance initiatives within a large financial institution, ensuring data used for reporting, modeling, and business decision-making was accurate, complete, and "fit for purpose." Partnered with cross-functional stakeholders across Risk, Compliance, Regulatory Reporting, Operations, and IT to document and analyze end-to-end data flows, including data lineage from source systems through transformation layers to final reporting outputs.
Played a key role in building and maintaining business glossaries and metadata documentation, mapping business definitions to technical data elements, and identifying data quality rules, gaps, and improvement opportunities. Utilized tools such as Ab Initio to support data cataloging and lineage tracking efforts, while helping establish data governance standards aligned with internal control frameworks.
Conducted reverse data analysis to trace reporting outputs back to originating data sources, identifying inconsistencies and recommending remediation actions. Collaborated with stakeholders to implement data quality controls, improve processes, and drive governance adoption across the organization. Maintained project tracking, reporting, and stakeholder communication using tools like Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams, while supporting ongoing governance operations and continuous improvement initiatives.
