Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Data Analyst to support cloud financial management, cost optimization, and strategic planning initiatives across Azure cloud services and on-premises data center environments. The ideal candidate will combine strong financial analysis skills with cloud cost management expertise, data analytics capabilities, and experience building executive-level reporting solutions.
This role will be responsible for analyzing cloud consumption patterns, developing financial models, creating Power BI dashboards, forecasting IT expenditures, and providing actionable insights to optimize cloud investments.
Key Responsibilities:
• Analyze and interpret IT financial data across Microsoft Azure cloud environments and on-premises data center workloads, including consumption, billing, forecasting, and chargeback models.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions to visualize:
• Cloud spending trends
• Migration impacts
• Workload optimization opportunities
• Cost allocation and forecasting metrics
• Perform monthly and annual IT spend variance analysis, identifying cost drivers, anomalies, and opportunities for optimization.
• Manage and improve datasets from multiple sources, including:
• Azure Cost Management Portal
• Apptio
• SharePoint
• Enterprise financial systems
• Perform data cleansing, transformation, and validation to ensure reporting accuracy and consistency.
• Document financial reporting processes, data flows, procedures, and operational guidelines.
• Collaborate with:
• Cloud Engineering teams
• Infrastructure & Operations (I&O) teams
• Enterprise Finance stakeholders
• IT Leadership teams
• Support Azure migration initiatives by creating financial models for:
• Server migration scenarios
• Cloud workload cost comparisons
• Capacity planning
• Reserved capacity forecasting
• Provide FinOps insights by analyzing:
• Cloud utilization patterns
• Cost optimization opportunities
• Resource efficiency
• Spending trends
• Contribute to the development and maturity of cloud financial management strategies.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
• Strong experience with Power BI, including:
• Power Query
• DAX calculations
• Data modeling
• Dashboard development
• Data visualization best practices
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling, pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis.
• Experience with data extraction, transformation, and manipulation from multiple heterogeneous data sources.
• Strong understanding of:
• Azure Cost Management
• Cloud billing models
• Consumption-based pricing
• Chargeback/showback models
• Experience with Apptio or similar IT financial management (ITFM) platforms.
• Knowledge of cloud cost optimization concepts and FinOps practices.
• Ability to translate complex technical and financial data into actionable business insights.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• FinOps certification or formal cloud financial management training.
• Experience with:
• Azure Reserved Instances
• Azure Savings Plans
• Just-In-Time (JIT) capacity planning
