Data Analyst

Description A large enterprise financial services organization is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to support a cyber data operations initiative focused on improving how source data is analyzed, documented, and prepared for downstream engineering teams. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong SQL and data analysis skills with the ability to work directly with stakeholders, technical owners, and developers. You will help evaluate upstream data sources, define technical requirements, and translate findings into clear documentation that supports high-quality data delivery. What You’ll Tackle • Analyze upstream data sources and assess structure, quality, and usability • Write detailed technical specifications and developer-ready documentation • Partner with stakeholders and technical owners to gather and refine requirements • Use SQL to extract, profile, and validate large data sets • Work with REST APIs to understand and assess source system data • Use Python and pandas to inspect, transform, and analyze data • Support data scrubbing and source validation activities for downstream ingestion • Collaborate with engineering teams to clarify requirements and resolve data issues What You Bring • Strong hands-on SQL experience • Experience analyzing complex source data across multiple systems • Ability to translate business and technical requirements into clear technical documentation • Experience working with APIs and REST-based data sources • Python experience for data analysis, ideally with pandas • Strong communication skills and confidence working with cross-functional stakeholders • Ability to balance detail, accuracy, and delivery speed • Experience supporting data engineering or data warehouse initiatives • Strong problem-solving skills and a structured analytical mindset
