Role description
Working Title: Data Analyst/Report Writer 3 Location will be at - 701 W 51st Street Austin, Texas 78751 – Onsite – Local only Duration : 12 Months Contract I. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES Data reporting analysts transform data into information that can be utilized to make business decisions and actions. Their work involves acquiring data from other sources, creating reports on a regular basis, correcting any code issues, and ensuring that databases remain error-free and organized. The DSHS seeks highly qualified candidates to fill the Data Analyst position within the DSHS Environmental Epidemiology and Disease Registries Section. This position will perform senior level consultative services and technical assistance work in the area of DSHS analysis for program related activities. Work involves analyzing DSHS priority initiatives and special projects utilizing business analysis best practices in coordination with agency business and technical units. Duties include: assessing, analyzing, researching, documenting data requirements, assuring the use of data best practices and standards, assisting in the coordination and optimization of DSHS operations and program functions and providing recommendations. This position is responsible for assisting with the analysis across numerous related initiatives and leading special projects as assigned by agency leadership. These responsibilities include: developing data analysis tools; defining data requirements; providing recommendations to project leadership. This position will also work with staff to initiate, facilitate or participate in projects to maximize the success of multiple and diverse projects. Works under limited direction with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. II. CANDIDATE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Requirements:Candidates that do not meet or exceed the minimum stated requirements (skills/experience) will be displayed to customers but may not be chosen for this opportunity. 8+ years of experience in researching, gathering, correlating, and analyzing data; identifying solutions to complex problems; and preparing concise analytical reports. 8+ years of experience transforming data into actionable insights to support business decisions, including developing and presenting reports highlighting technology and operational gaps to executive stakeholders. 8+ years of experience developing or contributing to as-is / to-be data models to identify opportunities for operational efficiency. 8+ years of experience in data mapping, identifying process improvements, establishing benchmarks, and developing frameworks for operational trend analysis and performance measurement. 8+ years of experience analyzing data policies and procedures to determine their impact on automated systems and functional areas. 8+ years of experience acquiring data from multiple sources, generating recurring reports, and performing deep-dive analysis on trends and correlations. Ability to develop metadata, tables, and user interfaces for clear business reporting. 8+ years of experience using reporting tools to design and develop data reports, dashboards, and data visualizations. Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of experience creating advanced data reports, dashboards, and visualizations using specialized reporting tools. 5+ years of experience developing strategic and SDLC project documentation, including gap analyses, recommendations, roadmaps, requirements, design documents, system/data flow diagrams, test cases, and use cases. 1+ year of experience working in a State or Federal Public Sector environment.
