Role description
Role: Cloud BI & Analytics Consultant - Looker SME
Location: Remote, UK
Duration: 12 Months+
The Cloud BI & Analytics Consultant will work directly with Google’s most strategic customers on critical transformation projects. The successful candidate will provide management, consulting, and technical aptitude to customer engagements, partnering with customer executives and key technical leaders to deploy solutions via Google's Cloud Platform. This role will also involve close collaboration with key Google partners to manage programs, deliver consulting services, and provide technical guidance.
Required Qualifications:
· 5 years of experience working with Looker and BigQuery
· Proficient in advanced LookML concepts like extends, refinements, includes, parameters and templated filters. Knows advanced dimensions/measures.
· Experience in optimizing models for performance.
· Experience in introducing data restriction functionality (sql_where, access_filter, etc).
· Experience in designing and developing complex, interactive dashboards (UI-based & LookML dashboards) using advanced features like custom filters, cross-filters, and custom visualizations using the viz config editor.
· Experience in establishing and enforcing instance-wide governance policies. Manages projects, folders, and content access permissions. Can introduce multi-tenant Looker setup (dev-uat-prod).
· Experience in developing and deploying scripts or applications that interact with the Looker API for automation tasks (e.g., content migration, user sync).
· Experience in managing and troubleshooting embedded environments, implementing simple embed experiences and using the browser console to troubleshoot issues.
· Has successfully helped deploy Looker original and/or deployed Looker Core itself and managed a core instance before (maintenance, vanity URL, etc).
· 5 years of experience project managing, delivering technical solutions and interfacing with executive stakeholders.
· 5 years of direct Business Intelligence report and semantic modeling
Preferred Qualifications:
· Cloud certification.
· 7 years of experience demonstrating technical client service in the Data Analytics space.
· Experience working with business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik
· Customer-facing migration experience, including service discovery, assessment, planning, execution, and operations.
· Proficiency in programming/scripting languages including SQL (across MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redshift, Oracle), R, Python.
· Demonstrated excellent communication, written, presentation and problem solving skills.
