Role description

Weβre looking for a hands-on Actuarial Data Architect / Business Analyst who can own the flow of insurance and actuarial data from end to end. This person will partner closely with actuarial, data engineering, and business teams to understand how data moves through the organization, shape scalable data solutions, and ensure the information used for reporting, modeling, and analytics is accurate, well-documented, and trusted.
What Youβll Do
β’ Work directly with business and actuarial stakeholders to understand data needs, define requirements, and translate them into technical specifications.
β’ Partner with engineers to guide solution design and confirm data pipelines, transformations, and structures support business goals.
β’ Dive deep into insurance datasetsβpolicy, claims, billing, financialβto diagnose data issues, recommend fixes, and ensure consistent data quality.
β’ Build detailed documentation including mapping rules, data definitions, lineage, workflows, process diagrams, and architectural visuals.
β’ Prepare and transform datasets using SQL and Python to support analytics, reporting, and actuarial workloads.
β’ Develop standards for metrics, table structures, and update processes to improve consistency across the data ecosystem.
β’ Ensure data accuracy, usability, and completeness across multiple systems, collaborating frequently with technical teams to troubleshoot issues.
What You Bring
β’ Strong background working with actuarial or insurance datasets in a data analyst, data architect, or hybrid BA/technical role.
β’ Advanced SQL skills with hands-on experience building transformations in Snowflake.
β’ Proficiency in Python for data manipulation, exploration, and validation.
β’ Ability to create clean, structured documentation that captures data flows, system behavior, and logical rules.
β’ Deep understanding of how metrics, data structures, and update cycles support analytics in an insurance environment.
β’ Strong communication skills and comfort working across technical and business groups.
Bonus Skills
β’ Experience with big data tools or cloud-based data engineering
β’ Familiarity with actuarial processes (valuation, experience studies, reserves)
β’ Knowledge of data governance or metadata management
