Job Title: Data Architect (Contract) - Job#5844 Location: Augusta, ME (Majority Remote – Onsite 1 day per month) Job Description Our client is seeking a Data Architect to design, implement, and maintain enterprise data solutions that support large-scale data integration and analytics initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience with Oracle platforms, data modeling, and automated ETL processes, along with the ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable and reliable data systems. This role involves developing and optimizing Oracle databases, ensuring data quality and performance, mentoring technical staff, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support modernization and reporting efforts. Key Responsibilities • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise-class data repositories using Oracle technologies (on-prem and cloud-hosted). • Develop and automate ETL processes for ingesting and transforming data from various sources including flat files, APIs, and databases. • Create and optimize SQL and PL/SQL procedures, functions, views, and scripts for high-performance operations. • Utilize Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) for reporting, visualization, and analytics needs. • Apply dimensional and tabular modeling techniques to support data warehousing and business intelligence. • Capture, analyze, and translate complex business requirements into robust and scalable technical solutions. • Maintain detailed documentation, architectural diagrams, and metadata for all database processes. • Implement best practices for data integrity, error logging, and process automation. • Provide technical mentorship and serve as a trusted advisor to IT staff and stakeholders. • Research and recommend new technologies and data management practices to improve system performance. • Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to ensure consistent data accuracy, availability, and reliability. Required Qualifications: • Extensive experience with Oracle database platforms (both on-prem and cloud-hosted). • Strong background in enterprise data architecture, data warehousing, and ETL automation. • Expert-level proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL development. • Hands-on experience with Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC). • Proven expertise in dimensional and tabular data modeling. • Ability to translate complex business needs into technical solutions. • Excellent documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills. • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision. • Experience mentoring technical teams and promoting best practices. Preferred Skills: • Experience with large-scale data migration or modernization initiatives. • Familiarity with API-based data refresh processes. • Experience working within public or enterprise data environments.
