Data Business Analyst - Reporting, Data & Governance
London Hybrid - 1 / 2 days per week onsite
6 Month Contract
£450-£500 per day Outside IR35
We are seeking an experienced Data Business Analyst to support a major transformation Programme on Reporting & Governance improvements. The business Analyst will work between business stakeholders, data teams and delivery teams to define requirements and improve data-driven decision making.
The successful candidate will be confident gathering and translating complex business needs into clear data requirements, with strong experience across reporting, KPI definition, data governance and analytics solutions.
Key responsibilities:
• Lead stakeholder workshops, discovery sessions and requirement gathering activities
• Translate business objectives into clear requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria
• Define and govern KPIs, metrics, business rules and reporting standards
• Develop and maintain data dictionaries, business glossaries and reporting documentation
• Map business requirements back to source data, tables, fields and reporting logic
• Support data quality, validation, UAT and business acceptance processes
• Partner with technical teams to deliver reporting and analytics solutions
• Educate stakeholders on the art of the possible with data, reporting and insight
Experience required:
• Strong background as a Business Analyst within data, reporting or analytics environments
• Proven experience working with finance data and business teams
• Strong understanding of data requirements, reporting logic, governance and quality principles
• Ability to analyse datasets and confidently work with SQL to validate requirements and data outputs
• Experience working with Power BI reporting solutions
• Exposure to modern data platforms, ideally Databricks and Azure
• Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to challenge, influence and drive alignment
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to bridge business and technical teams
