Role description
OverviewWe are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Controls Engineer to join our innovative engineering team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining control systems that optimize manufacturing processes and ensure operational efficiency. Your expertise will help drive continuous improvement initiatives, troubleshoot complex automation issues, and implement cutting-edge control solutions. Responsibilities
Design, develop, and implement control systems for manufacturing equipment and automation processes using industry-standard software and hardware tools.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, develop specifications, and deliver effective control solutions aligned with project goals.
Program PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and other automation devices to enhance system performance and reliability.
Conduct testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of control systems to ensure seamless operation and minimal downtime.
Maintain detailed documentation of control system configurations, modifications, and operational procedures for future reference and compliance.
Utilize databases and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems to manage data collection, system updates, and inventory control related to automation components.
Support ongoing maintenance activities by diagnosing issues through data analysis, performing repairs, and implementing preventative measures.
Develop reports using pivot tables and advanced Excel functions to analyze system performance metrics for continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure all work adheres to safety standards, quality protocols, and organizational policies while maintaining high levels of organizational skills in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience
Proven experience as a Controls Engineer or in a similar automation-focused role within manufacturing or industrial environments.
Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, data entry, typing, transcription, and office software suites.
Familiarity with databases, ERP systems, and data collection tools used in industrial automation settings.
Demonstrated ability to work with basic math skills for calculations related to system parameters and measurements.
Clerical experience including filing, order entry, data management, and organizational skills that support efficient project execution.
Experience with control programming languages such as ladder logic or structured text is highly desirable.
