Job Title: Data Analyst – Affordable Housing Waitlist Management
Job Description
This role supports a mission-driven non-profit housing organization that helps underhoused individuals and families access affordable housing options. The Data Analyst will manage and maintain waitlist data for more than 30 properties, ensuring that large data sets are accurate, consistent, and properly aligned with the organization’s internal systems. This position plays a critical role in keeping housing waitlists current, reliable, and ready for timely decision-making.
Responsibilities
• Manage and maintain waitlist data for a portfolio of more than 30 housing properties.
• Validate large data sets related to the waitlist population to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare and format data for import into the internal housing management system.
• Compare data from Excel spreadsheets to records in the internal system and reconcile any discrepancies.
• Organize, analyze, and clean data to ensure consistency across all sources.
• Monitor the annual waitlist and keep records up to date as applicants move through the application and housing process.
• Add, update, and remove records in the waitlist as needed to reflect current status and eligibility.
• Ensure property staff follow correct timelines and procedures for updating waitlist data.
• Communicate data issues or inconsistencies to relevant stakeholders and support timely resolution.
• Maintain clear documentation of data validation, updates, and processes to support auditability and transparency.
Essential Skills
• At least 1 year of administrative experience or experience as a Data Analyst.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions.
• Demonstrated experience working with large data sets.
• Proficiency in data validation and data analysis.
• Strong data entry skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Ability to organize, manage, and maintain large volumes of data.
• Strong administrative support skills, including documentation and record-keeping.
• Ability to identify data discrepancies and take corrective action.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills related to data management.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Experience in administrative support roles involving data management and analysis.
• Background in clerical or administrative environments where accuracy and organization are critical.
• Familiarity with data management best practices in a non-profit or housing-related context.
• Comfort working with internal systems and databases alongside Excel-based data.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with property staff and other stakeholders to maintain accurate waitlist records.
Work Environment
This is a fully on-site position, working five days per week with no hybrid or remote options. The role is based in a non-profit housing environment focused on serving underhoused individuals and families. You will work primarily with Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as pivot tables and VLOOKUPs, as well as other Microsoft Office tools and internal data systems. The setting is detail-oriented and data-driven, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, organization, and timely updates to housing waitlists.
