About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our data team - MUST BE LOCAL TO HOUSTON. This role is critical to supporting ongoing initiatives and ensuring the reliability of our production data science environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong AWS expertise, a proven ability to design and optimize data pipelines, and the confidence to provide expert oversight of systems already in production.
Key Responsibilities
• Production Support: Act as the expert data engineer responsible for reviewing, validating, and maintaining pipelines that support data science models currently in production.
• Data Lake Expansion: Implement and manage new data additions to the enterprise data lake.
• Data Governance: Participate in the rollout and enforcement of data governance practices.
• Pipeline Development: Build and optimize pipelines to ensure scalability, reliability, and performance.
• AWS & ETL Expertise: Utilize AWS technologies to design and manage ETL pipelines (focus is not on writing SQL).
• Collaboration: Work closely with senior staff and cross-functional teams on high-impact data initiatives.
Qualifications
• Proven experience as a Data Engineer (mid-to-senior level; not a junior resource).
• Strong expertise in AWS technologies and ETL pipeline development.
• Proficiency with SQL and Python.
• Demonstrated success supporting data science models in production.
• Ability to provide expert opinions and technical leadership on data architecture and pipeline design.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with stakeholders across the organization
