Title: Platform Data Engineer Job Type: Contract Contract Length: TBD Pay Range: $70–$100/hr Start Date: ASAP Location: MA About The Opportunity Our client, a leader in the FinTech/Data Platform space, is looking for a skilled Platform Data Engineer to join their team for a [Contract Duration] engagement. This project involves maturing their DataOps services, scaling data infrastructure, and building services that enable development teams to leverage frameworks, tooling, and PaaS/IaaS offerings across the firm. This is a high-impact, hands-on role that requires a self-motivated professional with a strong architectural background to help define the firm's technical direction and mentor junior team members. Key Responsibilities & Deliverables This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include: • DataOps Architecture: Design and mature DataOps services and tooling to support cloud initiatives and internal development teams. • Pipeline Development: Develop and maintain data pipelines to feed data from various sources into Apache Kafka and load into Iceberg/Snowflake. • Containerization & Orchestration: Develop containers for use with ECS, Fargate, and EKS, leveraging deep expertise in Kubernetes. • Workflow Automation: Develop and manage scheduled jobs using Airflow and automate database deployments. • Infrastructure Consulting: Consult on infrastructure projects, ensuring systems fit the technical architecture and the specific needs of the end-user community. • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with a cross-functional team of engineers on technology improvements, evaluations, and project deliveries. Required Skills & Experience: We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have: • Core Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in Python, Go, or C#, as well as strong experience with SQL Server, Postgres, and Snowflake. • Cloud & Infrastructure: Deep expertise with AWS, Kubernetes, Linux, and Docker. Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation. • Data Systems: Strong experience with ETL/ELT techniques and Apache Kafka (experience with Flink is preferred). • Operational Proficiency: Familiarity with CI/CD techniques and tools and knowledge of microservices application stack architecture. • Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to multi-task and work across multiple projects simultaneously.
