Data Engineering Manager
Location: Remote - Hartford, CT
Employment Type: Contingent Worker (Contract, W2)

Summary of the Role
Join a large biotech pharmaceutical leader as a Mgr Data Engineering supporting the global distribution organization through AI, GenAI, automation, and data-enabled solutions. This role will design, develop, test, and implement practical digital tools that improve business processes, operational efficiency, and decision-making.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical developer who can partner directly with business stakeholders, understand operational challenges, translate requirements into scalable solutions, and build AI-enabled workflows, custom GPTs, automation logic, analytics tools, and data solutions in a compliant enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Design, develop, test, and implement AI, GenAI, custom GPT, automation, and data-driven solutions
β’ Partner with business stakeholders to understand operational challenges and identify automation opportunities
β’ Build and configure AI tools, automation workflows, chatbots, analytics solutions, and digital process improvements
β’ Write or adapt code, scripts, workflows, prompts, APIs, and automation logic to solve business problems
β’ Translate business requirements into technical designs, prototypes, MVPs, and scalable digital solutions
β’ Ensure AI and digital solutions are secure, scalable, compliant, sustainable, and aligned with enterprise standards
β’ Support data standardization, data transformation, data validation, and data quality activities
β’ Work with structured and unstructured data, including extraction, cleansing, mapping, validation, and transformation
β’ Document technical designs, workflows, business rules, data logic, support procedures, and solution requirements
β’ Test, validate, troubleshoot, and enhance AI-enabled, automation, and data solutions
β’ Communicate effectively with technical teams, business partners, and non-technical stakeholders
Qualifications
β’ Hands-on experience developing AI, GenAI, automation, analytics, or digital workflow solutions
β’ Experience building or configuring custom GPTs, AI assistants, chatbots, prompt-based workflows, or GenAI-enabled solutions
β’ Experience writing or adapting code, scripts, workflows, APIs, or automation logic
β’ Working knowledge of Python, SQL, JavaScript, Power Platform, Power Automate, APIs, or similar tools
β’ Experience with tools such as Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure OpenAI, Power Apps, Databricks, Snowflake, Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI, SharePoint, Jira, or Confluence
β’ Experience with embeddings, semantic search, vector databases, document intelligence, or unstructured data processing
β’ Understanding of prompt engineering, AI solution design, workflow automation, and data transformation
β’ Ability to translate business requirements into technical designs and working solutions
β’ Strong business analysis, requirements gathering, process mapping, and documentation skills
β’ Ability to test, validate, troubleshoot, and enhance digital solutions
β’ Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with both business and technical teams
Preferred:
β’ Experience in global supply chain, distribution, logistics, manufacturing, biotech, pharmaceutical, or regulated industries
β’ Familiarity with software development practices, version control, GitHub, APIs, testing frameworks, CI/CD, or MLOps
β’ Experience building automation for reporting, data reconciliation, exception management, workflow routing, or dashboards
β’ Understanding of data governance, master data management, metadata, data stewardship, data lineage, and data quality frameworks
β’ Familiarity with order management, inventory, warehouse operations, transportation, cold chain, serialization, trade compliance, or distribution planning
