Data Engineering Manager
Location: Remote - Hartford, CT
Employment Type: Contingent Worker (Contract, W2)

Summary of the Role
Join a large biotech pharmaceutical leader as a Mgr Data Engineering supporting the global distribution organization through AI, GenAI, automation, and data-enabled solutions. This role will design, develop, test, and implement practical digital tools that improve business processes, operational efficiency, and decision-making.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical developer who can partner directly with business stakeholders, understand operational challenges, translate requirements into scalable solutions, and build AI-enabled workflows, custom GPTs, automation logic, analytics tools, and data solutions in a compliant enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, test, and implement AI, GenAI, custom GPT, automation, and data-driven solutions
• Partner with business stakeholders to understand operational challenges and identify automation opportunities
• Build and configure AI tools, automation workflows, chatbots, analytics solutions, and digital process improvements
• Write or adapt code, scripts, workflows, prompts, APIs, and automation logic to solve business problems
• Translate business requirements into technical designs, prototypes, MVPs, and scalable digital solutions
• Ensure AI and digital solutions are secure, scalable, compliant, sustainable, and aligned with enterprise standards
• Support data standardization, data transformation, data validation, and data quality activities
• Work with structured and unstructured data, including extraction, cleansing, mapping, validation, and transformation
• Document technical designs, workflows, business rules, data logic, support procedures, and solution requirements
• Test, validate, troubleshoot, and enhance AI-enabled, automation, and data solutions
• Communicate effectively with technical teams, business partners, and non-technical stakeholders
Qualifications
• Hands-on experience developing AI, GenAI, automation, analytics, or digital workflow solutions
• Experience building or configuring custom GPTs, AI assistants, chatbots, prompt-based workflows, or GenAI-enabled solutions
• Experience writing or adapting code, scripts, workflows, APIs, or automation logic
• Working knowledge of Python, SQL, JavaScript, Power Platform, Power Automate, APIs, or similar tools
• Experience with tools such as Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure OpenAI, Power Apps, Databricks, Snowflake, Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI, SharePoint, Jira, or Confluence
• Experience with embeddings, semantic search, vector databases, document intelligence, or unstructured data processing
• Understanding of prompt engineering, AI solution design, workflow automation, and data transformation
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical designs and working solutions
• Strong business analysis, requirements gathering, process mapping, and documentation skills
• Ability to test, validate, troubleshoot, and enhance digital solutions
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with both business and technical teams
Preferred:
• Experience in global supply chain, distribution, logistics, manufacturing, biotech, pharmaceutical, or regulated industries
• Familiarity with software development practices, version control, GitHub, APIs, testing frameworks, CI/CD, or MLOps
• Experience building automation for reporting, data reconciliation, exception management, workflow routing, or dashboards
• Understanding of data governance, master data management, metadata, data stewardship, data lineage, and data quality frameworks
• Familiarity with order management, inventory, warehouse operations, transportation, cold chain, serialization, trade compliance, or distribution planning
• Experience with Agile, SAFe, product ownership, or digital product delivery
• Knowledge of responsible AI, data privacy, cybersecurity, and compliance for enterprise AI solutions
