Role description
Data Engineer / Analyst Contract 3 Months + We are supporting a major retail reporting transformation programme and are looking for experienced contractor to help design and deliver a new reporting capability across sales, inventory, shipping, forecasting, and supply chain data. The programme will build a scalable retail reporting solution using Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery, Dataform, and Looker, bringing together multiple retailer and operational data sources into trusted models and dashboards for commercial and planning teams. This role will help with the technical build of the reporting solution, covering data ingestion, modelling, semantic layers, and performance optimisation across the GCP stack. • Integrate and configure retailer POS, inventory, EDI, portal, shipping, forecast, and pricing data sources into GCP. • Build and maintain Dataform pipelines across raw, staging, and gold data layers. • Develop unified sales, inventory, and shipping models in BigQuery. • Implement business logic including on-hand versus on-order stock, Weeks of Supply, forecast windows, and calendar alignment. • Optimise data models for Looker consumption, performance, reconciliation, and data quality. • Partner with BI, commercial, and planning teams to translate requirements into scalable data structures. Experience required: Strong SQL and data modelling experience, hands-on BigQuery, Dataform, and Looker modelling skills, and ideally experience working with retail, supply chain, inventory, or forecasting datasets. You will be comfortable working independently and delivering at pace within a fast-moving environment.
