Role description
Akkodis is seeking a Data Engineer for one of our clients in Dearborn, Michigan. Rate Range: $55.00/hour to $60.00/hour; the rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors. The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting scalable data solutions that enable the collection, integration, transformation, storage, and analysis of enterprise data. This role works closely with business and technology stakeholders to deliver reliable data infrastructure, pipelines, and platforms that support reporting, analytics, operational processes, and data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate will have experience building cloud-based data solutions, optimizing data workflows, and leveraging modern data engineering technologies to ensure data quality, performance, and scalability across the organization. Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a must for this role, and candidates will be expected to demonstrate their knowledge on the interview. The work arrangement is 4 days a week in office and 1 day work-from-home. Please note, we cannot work C2C for this opportunity. Responsibilities • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to gather, analyze, and translate current and future data requirements into scalable solutions. • Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines for data ingestion, transformation, integration, and delivery. • Build and support enterprise data platforms, including data warehouses, data lakes, and lakehouse architectures. • Develop and maintain data models that support analytics, reporting, and operational workloads. • Perform data ingestion, data wrangling, and transformation activities for various data sources, landing data into Google BigQuery. • Create and optimize stored procedures, triggers, and database objects to support data processing and business requirements. • Design and develop automation tools, scripts, and programs to streamline data engineering processes and improve operational efficiency. • Utilize cloud-native services and tools, including Cloud Functions, Data Fusion, Apache Airflow, and Astronomer, to orchestrate and manage data workflows. • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data infrastructure and pipelines to ensure reliability, performance, scalability, and data quality. • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities across data engineering processes and platforms. Experience Required • 4+ years of Data Engineering experience designing, developing, and supporting enterprise data solutions. • Strong experience in data engineering, including data warehousing, data modeling, ETL/ELT development, data ingestion and transformation, and data pipeline architecture. • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including cloud-native application development and deployment is a must. • Experience working with BigQuery and GCP data services for large-scale data processing and analytics. • Proficiency with data orchestration and integration tools such as Apache Airflow, Astronomer, Data Fusion, and Cloud Functions. • Experience developing and optimizing stored procedures, triggers, SQL queries, and database performance. • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools, including Gemini Code Assist, GitHub Copilot, and OpenCode, to improve software development productivity. • Understanding of Agentic AI concepts, including autonomous workflows, AI agents, multi-agent systems, and the application of Large Language Models (LLMs) to automate business and development processes. • Experience integrating AI tools into the software development lifecycle, including code generation, testing, debugging, and documentation. Education • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Preferred Experience • Experience with Vertex AI, Gemini models, and other GCP AI and machine learning services. • Experience with QlikView or similar business intelligence and analytics tools. • Knowledge of modern data lakehouse architectures and enterprise-scale data governance practices. • Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools to accelerate engineering delivery and improve code quality. • Exposure to advanced analytics, machine learning, or AI-driven data solutions.
