Role description
Data Engineer – BI / Data Reporting
Expert Technical Solutions has an immediate opening for a strong Data Engineer – BI/Data Reporting in Alpharetta, GA. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in SQL-based reporting and business intelligence tools. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in building, maintaining, and optimizing reports, data integrations, and dashboards that support business decision-making.
This is a 6+ month contract to permanent, HYBIRD (1-2 days onsite per week) position offering strong pay, benefits, and growth potential. Our client is an industry leader in Utilities and Telecommunications.

Responsibilities:
· Design, develop, and maintain reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
· Develop and manage ETL processes using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to ensure reliable data movement and transformation.
· Write, optimize, and maintain complex queries, stored procedures, and functions using T-SQL and MySQL.
· Build interactive dashboards and visualizations using Power BI and Amazon QuickSight.
· Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
· Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and performance across reporting and analytics platforms.
· Troubleshoot and resolve data, report, and performance issues in a timely manner.
· Document technical designs, data models, and reporting processes.
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
· 3+ years of hands on experience as a Data Engineer with a strong focus on SSRS and SSIS.
· Strong Proficiency in SQL, T-SQL, and relational databases (e.g., SQL Server).
· Experience with data visualization and reporting tools.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
· Experience developing dashboards and reports in Power BI and Amazon QuickSight.
· Solid understanding of relational databases and data modeling concepts.
· Experience working with large datasets and optimizing query performance.
· Experience with data warehousing concepts and ETL best practices.
Preferred Skills:
· Experience in the utilities or field services industry is a plus.
· PowerBI, QuickSight, or other BI tools
· Knowledge of Data analytic languages like Python is a plus.
· Familiarity with cloud-based data environments (AWS preferred).
Knowledge of Dynamo DB
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
· Experience working in Agile environments.
