Role description
Job Summary (Data Engineer) • Develop, maintain, and optimize enterprise data pipelines and ETL processes across multiple platforms (DB2, SQL Server, IBM DataStage, Collibra, AWS). • Design and define enterprise data architecture and technology standards for data engineering across various tools and cloud platforms. • Build and maintain data integration workflows from source systems to analytics platforms, including validation and reconciliation. • Ensure platform reliability, performance, and compliance with disaster recovery and business continuity standards. • Lead workload rationalization by identifying and optimizing pipelines and jobs for consolidation or re-architecture. • Evaluate and adopt modern data engineering tools (Airflow, dbt, AWS Glue, Spark) to modernize the data platform. • Monitor and resolve data pipeline health and quality issues proactively, ensuring SLA adherence. • Support environment management (Dev/QA/Prod), release coordination, and AWS cloud stability post-migration. • Collaborate with business intelligence teams (Tableau, SAS, BusinessObjects) to ensure reliable data delivery for reporting. • Participate in incident triage (L1/L2), root cause analysis, and continuous improvement for data quality and availability. • Document and maintain runbooks, SOPs, and knowledge management artifacts for all supported data flows and processes. • Work closely with cross-functional teams (data scientists, analysts, offshore teams) to deliver end-to-end data solutions. • Own and track SLA/KPI performance, backlog management, and executive reporting via ServiceNow and other tools. • Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual interventions in pipeline management. • Support client escalations and ensure high customer satisfaction (CSAT) in data engineering services. • Lead or contribute to healthcare data engineering initiatives, preferably with experience in claims, clinical, EMR, or regulatory reporting domains. • Provide production support (on-call rotation), including after-hours coverage and coordinated response with offshore teams. • Participate in platform modernization and cloud migration projects for large-scale healthcare data environments. Required Experience & Skills • Bachelor s Degree in a relevant field. • 8+ years in data engineering, with strong ETL, pipeline design, and platform operations experience. • Advanced skills in SQL (DB2, SQL Server), IBM DataStage, Workload Scheduler, and AWS data services. • Experience supporting large-scale, SLAs-driven managed services. • Strong healthcare data background preferred. Nice To Have • Healthcare data engineering experience (claims, clinical, EMR, regulatory, HL7/FHIR). • AWS and/or other relevant technical certifications. • Experience with modern data stack tools and regulatory compliance (HIPAA, HITRUST, CMS). • Background in agile, DevOps, and CI/CD for data engineering.
